1. I think you may be waiting for a very, very long time. |

Challenging a sitting president in the primaries is a good way to elect the other side.

but no one of any stature will challenge Obama.
The challenges will come from the blue dogs of the democratic party. No one on the left with any brains will even consider it.

in the absence of a challenger, and most of these announcements declaring that the attempts are really designed to save the Obama Presidency, why some people are trying to start a civil war within the Democratic Party.

One that also has to deal with the same political parameters that Mr. Obama currently deals with.
What grand successes would that person have bestowed upon us?

Some people seem to be hanging on every single nuance of every single word uttered by Hilary Clinton in the hope that she may somehow decide to challenge Obama to a primary re-match in 2012 but I think she's made it as clear as day that she's not planning on running again- against Obama or anybody else- and, frankly, I imagine that, if she managed to depose Obama in the 2012 primary AND, crucially, managed to win the GE, we'll probably be right back here in 2013 arguing about HER being a sell-out and war monger. Despite all of this talk about there being a primary challenge to Obama in 2012 has there even been anybody out there who has publicly stated that they would consider running against President Obama for the 2012 nomination? If not, what exactly are they waiting for and how long might it before he/she emerges to take on President Obama? I would think that now would be *perfect* time for somebody to step in and take advantage of all the free floating progressive outrage and anger at President Obama that's out there right now. If there's really nobody out there able and willing to primary Obama and begins actually DOING something, fighting over hypothetical situations like this is unproductive IMHO and could better be spent on, oh I don't know, making sure that we win back the House and hold onto the Senate in 2012 and/or attacking Republicans.

36. Hill IS a sellout/warmonger, but give her credit, she's loyal & will sit out '12 if she's smart... |
|
Hillary knows that, even if she somehow managed to beat Obama in a primary challenge - highly unlikely given her own missteps as SOS - she would have to alienate the base big time to do it. In the general election, without that base of support, she'd be a certain loser to the Rethuglian.
I really think Hillary is being honest, for once, when she says her political career is over. It's pretty obvious for everyone to see. Bill is probably the only one who is truly disappointed and having a hard time accepting it.

Both have a spine, both have courage, both can relate to "the little guy", both have been proven leaders, both are willing to stand up to entrenched interests, both were against the invasion and occupation of Iraq.....Wes Clark or Howard Dean.

28. It has to be Feingold because Dean is hesitant to attack the admin even |
|
when they blatently dissed him in the DNC transition. Kucinich wouldn't be that much of a threat because he comes off like a flake. So it's Feingold first, then Dean and then Kucinich. It has to be Feingold. He's the only one who has the stature and record of standing on principle to do it.

34. Not going to happen... |
|
and my suggestion is to call, e-mail and write the president to get the ball rolling by not holding out an Olive Branch to the rabid weasels known as the GOP.
We can do this, but it takes a lot more than complaining on DU, we have to be pro-active and make ourselves known, not just on DU but across the nation, every D should be flooding the WH with a "spine up" message. We have the #'s and we can do this, we need to push for PO to take on the morans and beat them handily. The only reason the GOP took what they did during the mid-term is because people, damn good people, sat out the election.
The GOP is dying, we allowed it to be resurrected because we were not pro-active...even decent R's can't stand the shitweasels that took over. Just killing UI extension and the tax cut fiasco...(you can add the GOP "death panel" in AZ and "Saddlebag Jan Brewer" to the mix as well), and you have an explosive mixture that can spell the end of the GOP...but we have to work to get it done.
