A call to action, (I posted this in a thread, but I think it should have a thread of it's own)
I find it interesting that no matter what comes out that is in some way...

explaining what happened is immediately seen as some kind of "spin".

It should be known by now that PO can only do so much, and sadly, because of congressional inaction, the president is essentially forced into situations that appear to be detrimental to the country as a whole. The blame lies at the feet of congress, the president cannot make law. I am disgusted that one of my own senators is a piece of crap, (Ben Nelson, ?-NE), and I blame him for a lot of what has set the stage for the GOP being revived after it was gasping for breath.

I have noticed that a lot of people are not only single issue voters, but also display an astounding ignorance as to how the political process works. In saying that, I am not trying to be facetious, I am stating a fact. I read a ton of stuff that is posted on DU, and I've got to say, posting here, either griping or praising is cool, however, if this is the only place where people gripe or praise, they are not very effective at creating change.

To be sure, e-mailing, (somewhat effective); calling, (more effective); and hand written letters, (most effective except for face to face communication), does infinitely more for change than posting on DU. I don't know how many members get in touch with their congresscritters, but I can tell you that Nelson, Johanns and and the rat faced Adrian Smith, hear from me on a near continual basis. I can also tell you that I have received phone calls in return from those offices and have spoken to tall three of these individuals both on the phone and in person. When I go to local events with any of these people, I make sure I am armed with facts, to include a copy of their recent voting record, and I hold them to account. I give credit where credit is due, but most of the time, with facts as my armament, I fire them up, and on virtually every case I bring up, not just D's agree with me, but R's as well...(caveat, I take on Teabaggers on a one on one situation and they have never beaten me in a debate, in fact, I've had GOP people come up to me and thank me for shutting them down).

Here is my point, action works, posting on DU is fine, but if you don't back up what you say here with action, you do...essentially nothing. PO gets blamed for just about everything, even though an incredible amount of progress has been made. I consistently read all kinds of nasty stuff that generally is posted just to vent because of a perceived notion that PO is responsible for what has happened, when in reality, congressional D's rolled over and allowed the less than human clowns of the GOP set fire to country. If everyone in DU called their congress critters, we could make a huge impact on legislation...while we sit here and post a lot, be assured that R's are calling their clowns and making a stink. We must make sure that congresscritters, regardless of their party affiliation hear what We, the People, have to say. We can beat the GOP clowns to a pulp, but it won't be done on the pages of DU, it will be done by citizens that fight the horror that is the GOP.

I urge everyone to get on the phone, pick up a pen and put it to paper and e-mail your congresscritters and let them know they've done a good job in their voting, or they outright suck.

Just to make this a little easier for those who will act, if you go to this website, (Upper right, "Get Involved"), you can get a lot of info on how your elected official voted and there is contact info for all of them: http://www.congress.org /

Let's work together to crush the neo-con GOP!

2. thank you- I contacted my congress people unfortunately come Jan.
Two out of my three reps will be republicans.
Kelly Ayotte, (Sarah Palin wannabee) and Charlie Bass will be joining Jeanne Shaheen.

They'll hearing from me often.

Shaheen's great, but the other two are going to be disasters I'm afraid.

2012 is vital.

Thanks for this encouraging post.

3. I think this is lingering damage from 2000-2008, when we did have a dictator
And a rubber stamp congress. People think that that's how our government is supposed to work. It is not.

Everything that happened in politics before Bush/Cheney has been forgotten, and that's a shame.
