According to Big Ed he didn't even consult with the blue dogs liberals no one and now Biden is up on Capital Hill trying to jin up support from democrats WTF!!! so he goes to the rethugs who want to destroy him politically and not his own party.

1. Where did Ed get his info? Not that I'm disputing it, but just wondering if it's
accurate. Doesn't seem like Obama would be willing to piss off the people whose votes he needed.

ALTHOUGH -- there ARE a lot of Dems who aren't going for this.

7. I'd guess he got it from statements like this:

Landrieu also chastised the president for dealing with Republicans without adequately consulting his fellow Democrats, and said she's worried this is the way the next two years will be.

...

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, told us the tax cut deal took her by "surprise," especially the estate tax provision.

11. Yeah, and I just got off the phone w/Maria Cantwell's office and they said the
same thing -- "this framework caught us unprepared".

So I guess that answers my question! Thanks!!

5. "he didn't even consult with the blue dogs liberals " What's that?
Yeah, Senators are up in arms

Sounds more like political posturing.

<...>

And all that's true. Who can forget watching House and Senate Democrats screw up the no-brainer issue of voting for a middle class tax cut, turning it into a fiasco of fighting over who would go first before dropping the issue altogether, with Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) saying:

We don’t need to have a vote to let the American public know where we stand.

And so Democrats once again kept their powder dry for the fight that they will apparently never wage.

So this anonymous official is right -- House and Senate Democrats dropped the ball and are now blaming the President because he was forced to compromise. If only Mr. No-name had stopped there:

<...>

6. This makes sense....
they saw what was building from the "left" late last week and over the weekend and this was a way of shutting down the dissent thus changing and reframing the discussion from SHOULD we do it, to... it's the best we could do, and they seem to have no problem twisting liberal arms in congress to get what they want AFTER the fact..

:dem: Hold the line Dems - just say no!!

15. Steny Hoyer says, "There was no concensus reached."
Luke Russert is reporting this, via Big Ed's show - which makes it look like the president's announcement yesterday was meant to pressure Dems.
