Obama: "I will take John Boehner at his word"
Once upon a time, then-Senator Hillary Clinton said "I will take the President at his word" concerning imagined threats to America from Iraq. We all know the magnitude of Hell that resulted when Herr Decider used statements like Clinton's to justify invading Iraq.

We need a President who fights for us, not for the Republicans.

1. Well, that's stupid.
Republican politicians don't care if they keep their word, and they don't care if they're on the record lying, either. Taking any Republican politician at his/her word is foolish, as they feel no obligation to keep it and Republican voters don't make them suffer consequences for breaking it.

2. "No!"
Wait, that's not the "word" we're supposed to think of when Boehner's name is mentioned?

3. Is that all he said......?
or where those the 8 words that you feel highlights everything this President stands for?

cause I heard a whole lot more than that....and I'm still listening.

Perpetual Cynicism is the art of being able to maintain one's reputation of not liking anything,
ever. Good Luck!

13. Here's the context, Frenchie Cat
A reporter asked Obama whether the GOPers have leverage now with respect to the debt ceiling. Obama responded that he would take Boehner at his word. In other words, Boehner has already said that the new House will have to raise the debt ceiling, and Obama was reminding everybody that he already said that. That way, if Boehner tries to backtrack, Obama shows him that he already has him on record saying that he will put it forward.

Needless to say, taking it out of that context and presenting it as if Obama is really taking Boehner at his word is a sly bit of dishonest reading.

4. Again with this out of context CRAP
That was a lead-in to a statement where he laid down the expectation that Boehner would have to GOVERN after he was sworn in rather than be a bomb-thrower.

Are people actually interested in dealing with what's actually going on here, or are they here to cherry-pick soundbites as an excuse to have another flameout?

:wtf:

Good luck on your quixotic quest for a primary hero. I have a feeling that effort will be pretty misguided based on snap reactions.

5. Double standard
When asked about the prospect of bipartisanship in Congress, Dean said that he has a glimmer of hope: future House Speaker John Boehner.

“He comes off as a man who wants (Congress) to work right.” Dean said.

7. Bait-and-switch
We'll deal with Dean later; Obama's currently in the White House, not Dean.

8. No, double standard.
Dean has even less reason to say that.

10. Poster "knows" what Obama was saying.....
but deliberately chose to take it literally in order to feel pissed some more,
and make sure that progressives got pissed so more.

It's all a great ass pissing match,
without nuance nor context.

It ain't about politics or policy any longer,
it's about distortions, and put downs.
It's about NOTHING, in otherwords,
NOTHING that could help the American people.....

12. +1000. Any Democrat that say 'I take Boehner at his word' should be embarrassed.
Sadly, many here continue to defend this kind of stupidity.
