KUDOS to President Obama for pushing back on the unappreciative left. . .
. . .he was correct in doing so. He is busting his ass for us and all we do is criticize. He passed a historic health care bill and many on the left say he failed or sold out. He saves Detroit, which means saving American jobs and many on the left say he is a corporatist. He has has dramatically drawn down troops in Iraq and has a FUCKING EXIT STRATEGY for Afghanistan and for many on the left he is warmonger.

We elected this man President not DICTATOR, we want transformative change, but we want it down, we don't realize that we didn't vote for overnight change, we voted for and are getting transformative change. . .but many of us don't appreciate what it takes to make it happen.

GO AHEAD PRESIDENT OBAMA, I got your back!

9. you would have considered social security to be a disaster when
it was first passed as well.

Hell no it isn't what i wanted, or desperately need. But it's something, and it does help SOME people, which is better than the alternative.

It's a start, a meager start, but a start indeed. He really clarified this point today I believe.

7. And how will he
Explain the Deficit in 2 years? To the Right - who will pretend this deal was NEVER done and hammer him over the head with it?

Will we still be the unappreciative left? Or will time tell we (the left)were the pragmatists?

I appreciate what he has to deal with.

I appreciate the REALITY of governing.

People need to stop thinking they're going to get Luke Skywalker and his merry band against the Empire. It will never, ever be that simple and clear in Washington.

16. Not exactly
"He passed a historic health care bill

He passed 15 year old GOP health INSURANCE reform.

"He saves Detroit, which means saving American jobs and many on the left say he is a corporatist."

Not because of that action. People were critical of the way he bailed them out, but generally his accomplishment there was recognized as a sole example against the rest of his actions.

"He has has dramatically drawn down troops in Iraq

He is executing the SOFA, negotiated by Bush and Gates, who is still on the job.

"and has a FUCKING EXIT STRATEGY for Afghanistan"

No, he doesn't. Please do outline the schedule including numbers of troops over what time spans? He has a commitment to START reducing troops in July of next year. No specific number, and once he starts, he has no further commitment to any reductions. The commanding general he appointed, and the previous one he replaced, both speak in terms of being there for decades. There are more troops there now, than when he took over. At the end of next year, there will be more troops there than when he took over.

The motion has all been generally in the wrong direction. It has been moving rightward since he took over. It is merely moving right more slowly than if McCain had been elected. We are waiting for the change in direction towards the left.

17. Oops...better duck
read your post, and it made me hurl my lunch. His wonderful and "historic" health care bill amounts to putting a band-aid on a severed artery. He continues to bankrupt us with two unnecessary and unpopular wars. He's a real gem alright. Hey, but as long as you've got his back, please take the rest of him. And good riddance.

25. How many more people have health care coverage now?
Remember how one reason we needed health care reform (sic), was that 45 million people in this country did not have health care? So how are we doing now? Here you go:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2010-09-17-uninsured17_ST_N.htm

"Number of uninsured Americans rises to 50.7 million"

Well, that's an improvement. Oh, wait...

He drew down troops in Iraq -- and left 100,000 contractors there.

His exit strategy in Afghanistan is "We'll leave one day... maybe 2011... well, maybe 2014... 2015? do I hear 2015?"...

He is okay with being able to assassinate U.S. citizens abroad on just his say-so. He won't prosecute war criminals, even when they admit it like GWB did in his book. But he will go after Julian Assange, who is not even a US citizen, for publishing information.

"He is busting his ass for us." Oh, rriiiiigghht. I forgot. That awful job of POTUS was just dumped in his lap, it's not like he SOUGHT it or anything, it's not like he made PROMISES such as closing Gitmo, ending the wars, repealing tax cuts for the rich, et-f'in-cetera, and then didn't keep them. Nope. He's just doin' the people's work. Uh huh.

He's busting his ass for someone, that's for sure. I just don't think it's us, if by "us" you mean the rank and file in this country. He is much too busy making nice with the power elites.

Some people will never be happy... or be informed enough to actually offer a solution outside of chest-beating parlor talk where we all must bow to their purity.

Without the veto-proof votes and uncooperative Blue Dogs voting with the Party of No, Obama has to balance that madness with trying to govern and at least incrementally moving the country forward.

It's not a monarchy. It's governance in all its complicated rancor.

Aghanistan moved back to 2014.

Health insurance companies are raising their rates. Employers are cutting health benefits. People who have not another penny to spare will be required to buy into a health insurance plan.

Now what?

37. You guys trumpeting Obama after every screw up
remind me of the Republicans--never step out of line, never sound out against the party that you're aligned with that has the power. He is busting his ass getting insurance companies even greater profit and trying to give everyone what they want. Yes, the health care bill was historic--it required more people than ever before to buy health insurance from insurance companies. With the super majority, Hilary Clinton would have gotten the REAL health care bill pushed through. And Obama can screw himself pushing against the "unappreciative left," who were his biggest supporters. He should worry more about keeping his main supporters rather than placating those on the right or filling his pockets with contributions from the insurance companies. Oh and lest we forget, he is sounding out against Julian Assange--Obama, the president who was all about transparency in the White House! Fuck Obama.
