If we had compromised with the British in 1776
We would in all likelihood be singing "God Save the Queen" and saluting the Union Jack.

If the Union had compromised with the Confederacy in 1860, we'd probably still have slavery.

If we had compromised with Nazi Germany in 1940, I don't even want to THINK about what could have happened, both here and around the world.

All I can say, Mr. President, is

To HELL with compromise!

3. Yeah, but we would have Universal Healthcare.
And the Beatles would have been from Newark.

7. What unassailable reasoning!
Let's just treat every situation the same and apply the same attitude to them all - that will work BRILLIANTLY!

11. The US may have been more like Canada....

... universal health care, less hand guns, no death penalty, and slavery would have ended much earlier.

(BTW, I do get your point)

12. What's wrong with universal healthcare?
And the Union Jack is a mighty fine flag. I have always thought the US would be a much better county if it was still British.

15. Thank you for pointing out the truth about the Confederacy. Putting aside whatever anyone thinks
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 12:09 AM by StevieM
about Obama and the tax cut compromise, I think it's important to point out the truth about the Confederacy.

Had the South won the Civil War, slavery would not have ended gradually. It would have lasted in perpetuity for decades to come, until ended by force from an external power.

And the U.S. and the Confederacy would not have been like the U.S. and Canada. They would have been our bitter enemies, antithetical to everything we stood for. And there likely would have been additional wars between the two sides.

It sickens me to listen to people glorify that evil country. I shudder to think of what the world would look like today had it survived.
