Unsubscribed from Organizing for America tonight
My reason message: "Because President Obama has surrendered to the Republicans without even the pretense of a fight."

Perhaps if enough folk unsubscribe in this manner, the message will get through... assuming anyone is even listening.

because if you want to see Obama defeated, you better damn well be sure you can put your Progressive ideal option in the WH, because it'll be lights out if the Republicans take it back.

29. Oh, don't think Obama isn't any worse than a Repub
Despite those here who have convinced themselves of that, things WILL be worse.

If you think a Republican would have accomplished what HAS been accomplished (no, DUers cannot negate what has been done just because they like to think Obama's done nothing), think again.

When Republicans gain control of the WH, some here in the DU bubble will undoubtedly wonder how and why.

I unsubscribed(unliked) "I stand behind my president" and 'Barack Obama" on my facebook this evening.I will be asking to be removed from the spam donation email lists that I subscribed to for donating and supporting him. I'm a 99er. He forgot about us, or doesn't care and threw us under the bus. He is gift wrapping a tax cut, placing a bow on it and placing it under the rich bastards' trees for Christmas while at least 4 million folks like me are left with no job creation and discontinued unemployment and uncertainty for our families futures. Hilary or Biden for 2012.

I really think that actions like this need to be taken to get the point across. Quite frankly, the Presidents little speech and the tone he took today was the last straw for me.

14. If only he took the "tone" that's used here about him all the time, I guess you'd
have turned into a pillar of salt or something.

Day after day of dealing with Republican/Teabagger bullshit and MSM spin, but the Left doesn't get EVERYTHING they want and write him off as doing NOTHING in these two years despite a major list of legislative accomplishments?

I think he's showing some damned admirable restraint and diplomacy.

Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 01:03 AM by political_Dem
For weeks, some folks demanded that the POTUS display a show of power. When he does, all hell breaks loose.

After all, the naysayers only wanted Mr. Obama to be their servant. He was only supposed to do what they said and nothing more. Well, he did and look what happened. He showed too much power for their liking.

Now, it's time for the naysayers to pout and sashay down the staircase in that dress made of curtains in true diva style.

55. Give it a rest!!
I don’t need some faceless blow hole on an internet chat board preaching at me or questioning my convictions. The fact of the matter is the Democratic party should have been standing up to the right wing in this country for years now. All the President has done while he flaps around in the wind is re-enforce the preposterous notion that trickle down economics works. By the time all of the games have been played the republicans will have starved the budget to the point we have no option but to cut the programs we consider the most important. For the love of God, wake up.

19. No, it takes more strength to leave and stand up for principles - something
too many in this country are not accustomed to.

The Tea Party for all it's faults (and I do despise them) - at least stand

on principle and are viewd as strong for doing so. To support weakness in a leader and the

capitulation of core principles is wrong Whisp.......and only contributes to the perception that

we Dems are lily-livered and cave at the sight of blood.

I say BRING IT ON you son-of-a-bitches - the Boehner, McConnell, Bachmann cabal. We'll fight you to the finish!!!

32. what 'we' are you talking about?
the 'we' here have been fighting Obama, not the Boehners, the McConnells or the Bachmanns, as it should be.

I have no clue whatsoever what you mean. Are you starting a new party? have you a ringer in to replace Obama, or is it just that you are directed to be enraged at Obama yet again and you are just flailing around and not thinking things through?

If you really think Barack did the right thing then - OK, but really think about it...

extending tax breaks for the Top 2% will only put us deeper in the hole allowing the Repubs to eviscerate Social Security in 2 years time.

NOW IS THE TIME TO STAND UP AND LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!!!

which one?
I've heard dozens and dozens of messages and directives, orders and requests, all from here on DU alone. and each one has a special little personal twist.

So how about coming up with something realistic rather than the generic: 'Do something good and do it now according to my pesonal liking because after all you are my Employeeeeeeeee!' is weak and juvenile.

56. True, but OFA is his big grassroots money-funnel.
Recall the huge tide of $20, $50, and $100 donations from private individuals that Obama got via OFA during the 2008 election. (Seems so long ago.) If people start disassociating themselves from OFA, that hits Obama in the pocketbook, and that's the loudest message you can send to a politician. "I won't be sending you any more donations until you change your tune" is the message I'm sending.
