Sign this moveon.org petition if you are tired of Obama compromises
Subject: Help stop the millionaire bailout

Hi,

Last night, President Obama announced that he's giving in to the GOP and extending the Bush tax breaks for the rich.

The "deal" he's proposing is an "absolute disaster," as Senator Bernie Sanders said. So Sen. Sanders said last night he would "do whatever I can to see that 60 votes are not acquired to pass this piece of legislation."

But Sen. Sanders can't do it alone. I just signed a petition to other leading progressives in the Senate to stand with him to block any extension of the millionaire bailout. Can you join me at the link below?

http://pol.moveon.org/no_bailout/

Thanks!

1. I will not sign it, and I will write them a letter letting them know why I"m not.
If they want to be held responsible for raising the taxes of 98% of Americans,
then fine.....but that's not what the President is interested in doing,
and I'm more for that....cause I care more about 98% of Americans,
than I do the top 2%! You are obviously more interested in what the 2% will continue to get,
than that 98% may have to start paying.

I belong to Move-On....
But I'm not in lock-step with them....
sometimes they think things through,
and sometimes they just are reactionaries.

2. It's not just moveon but all leading progressives out there.
I stand with Bernie Sanders, Michael Moore, Bill Maher, Thomm Hartmann, Paul Krugman, Warren Buffett and countless economists that think tax cuts for millionaires is a bad idea. At what point do Democrats hold this president accountable for caving on every major issue?

3. I don't give a shit. about "leading" progressives.......
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 04:37 AM by FrenchieCat
I don't do lockstep unless there's a good cause.
There ain't one here.

If 98% of folks experience a tax increase in the worse of times,
that's fucked up, period....and signing Move-On letter would make
me a fool assisting in that scenario. I'm not.

Since Move-on and "Leading" progressives don't give a shit about 98% of us at this time,
and since I've never worried about the Deficit and ain't gonna start now,
I do not agree with Move-on or "Leading" progressives that this is some sort of
"doom is here, the rapture is coming" issue whatsoever.

However, if Obama fails to keep his promise to 98% of Americans that he would not
increase their taxes one dime, then he will not win re-election, and then Repukes
will win, and will be able to do to us what they want.

So since I like the Internet, and will not be helping elect Republicans,
who want to take my internet, I ain't signing. Capishe?
If you have a problem understanding where I'm coming from.....that sincerely too bad,
cause it really isn't that difficult.....when one dons a thinking cap.

4. We are in this mess because of the tax cuts. I would gladly
go back to Clinton tax brackets if we could get back to that economy. Pay a little, get a lot. This deal will make things worse.

13. You are concerned with what the Republicans are concerned with....
the top 2%.

Many of us are more concerned with the other 98%.

Priorities. They tend to show at some point.

You are doing lockstep; it is called support this president no matter
how bad he caves. People like you have become enablers for the Obama doctrine. Bernie Sanders has always been the voice of reason for progressives and he continues to be on this issue.

7. That's what you have decided.....but unfortunately for you,
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 05:10 AM by FrenchieCat
you ain't my daddy, and you don't get to assign me any motives. That's not your fucking job.
You want to be lockstep with the progressives in making sure that 98% of folks tax bill goes up
come January 1st, you go for it.

Far as I'm concerned, you can call me an enabler if it makes you feel superior,
but from what I see, you and your professioanl whiners are the ones enabling the Republicans,
and working hard to ensure that 98% of working Americans will see a tax increase as of January,
just so you can stick it to the rich....who won't miss a meal due to it, one way
or another.

You thought we elected a Black Panther? We didn't. We elected an intellectual that cares
more about people in general than you will ever know. Keep your eye on the top 2%, and be
willing to sacrifice everyone else's livelyhood to teach them a lesson......I'm sure you
will feel gratified and smug that you did. Those of us who are more practical, charitable,
and real about what politics are truly like, we'll go for compromise, because if no one is
willing to compromise about anything, then the Republicans win, cause that is exactly what
they want; to do nothing good for anyone, in particular the lesser of thee.

14. If you think this country prospers when compromise happens
you need a history lesson. Thank God for presidents like Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Kennedy,LBJ and Clinton. Under your philosophy, we should have let the south keep slaves in order to prevent the civil war. Maybe we could have let England retain some of their rule over us. I realize that legislation such as Social Security and Medicare were born out of compromise but if you think Obama has any victories that even come close to those accomplishments, you are delusional.

9. President Obama thinks that tax cuts for millionaires are a bad idea too!
But he also thinks that 98% of us don't need a minimum 5% tax increase in the upcoming year,
which will already be a hard year....for the working folks....

In fact, he is more concerned with that, the 98% of us, than you are with the 2% who have been getting the same tax breaks for the past 10 years.
But twist it all to suit your fancy....you and your Progressive leaders
that you follow, who haven't done shit on a stick much for anyone's pocket in a long time, if ever.

16. All very rich men...
Who, in this instance, would not be impacted by a 98% rise and the cessation of unemployment benefit. Would they be willing to club together and hand over 99.9% of their own money and man the soup kitchens to soften the blow?

18. What about the vast majority of Americans that are against
tax cuts for people making over 250 K and 1 million. Why didn't Obama draw a line in the sand and make Republicans once again go on record in support of millionaires.

19. Try posting this in GD instead of GD:P - you'll find a much more reasonable and respectful group
everyone here in GD:P will just jump all over you and call you names for not supporting FEARLESS LEADER! (who actually seems to be quite afraid to fight for any of us.) Posting a progressive post in GD:P is pointless - this forum has been taken over. EOM.

Bush until the end. Now they have become the joke. They feel that if you speak out or say you don't approve of the president then you are betraying him. If we drive Obama's approval rating into the 20's and he will start listening to us because he is infinitely smarter than Bush. Obama simply lacks the will to fight as long as Democrats somewhat approve of what he is doing.
