Some top donors to Obama campaign say they're not getting perks
WASHINGTON -- Some of President Barack Obama's wealthiest supporters are becoming a bit whiny, and it has nothing to do with policy.

Tickets for tours of the presidential residence are scarce, even for those who raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for last year's campaign. Private fundraisers tend to be brief, businesslike affairs. And there have been no sleepovers in the Lincoln Bedroom, weekends at Camp David or intimate lunches with the first couple.

Nearly a year into his presidency, that pattern has led some top Democratic donors across the country to grumble that they aren't getting the kind of personal attention from Obama and special access to the White House that they became used to during the eight years of the Bill Clinton presidency.

"I've had almost no communication with the White House," said Chris Korge, who collected $5.5 million for Obama, making him one of the president's biggest fundraisers.

A quote when he was asked about political backers wanting jobs.

6. We raised more than $100,000 for the Obama Campaign, through the dedicated DU page...
Edited on Mon Dec-14-09 10:36 AM by Skinner
...and I didn't even get a thank-you letter. I actually called the campaign and asked for one and they never even bothered to call me back.

When I inquired about inauguration tickets, they directed me to some intern-level lackey for Internet fundraising who didn't give me squat, and didn't even thank me for raising money. I asked her point-blank if they would be giving me the run-around if I were a lobbyist who raised $100,000. If I had raised that kind of money for Bush I would be a "Pioneer."

I guess on some level, it's good that the White House isn't handing out favors to big donors. But not even a thank-you letter?

If anyone in the White House is reading this... Get your act together before 2012!

8. Boo friggin hoo
It's really depressing that these people contributed ginormous amounts of money to the Obama campaign solely for the purpose of rubbing elbows with some political high mucky mucks.

11. Could this simply be spin? It seems very convenient to have big donors
pissed off with Obama. If they are being ignored by Obama why make it public? What would the reason be for publicizing a slight that essentially makes the donor appear to be a Loser?
