|
to be addressed before November, Dems were not in favour of it lest they lose their posts! Some lost to medicore teabaggers and now you all blaming the President! Why?

1. I'm not blaming him, but I do hold him responsible for not getting on it sooner - |
|
sooner than November, certainly. Could have done it and failed, done it again and failed, just to get the word out there and for people to maybe have more time to hear both sides rather than just predominantly the Republicans' talking points.

17. Why are you attacking me? Wasn't the OP about the tax issue? That's what I |
|
was responding to, and I wasn't blaming Obama if you'd bother to read it -- I'm not BLAMING anybody. If someone is to blame, it's every single Democrat and Republican who voted it in to begin with! I merely said Obama knew this was coming up, they should have prepared better. Earlier than November.
What does that have to do with DADT? And I WASN'T vocal about Obama? Wasn't I?
What's your fucking problem?

5. Some people want a parental figure to swoop in and take care of everything for them. |
|
The idea that things are more complicated, that Congress might be at fault, or that they were supposed to play an active role in solving problems doesn't jive with their expectations. Daddy was supposed to take care of it for them.
It's actually what Hillary Clinton promised to be in the primary. Remember the whole LBJ v MLK conversation? People who were looking for that kid of President will never be happy with Obama.

10. True. They never liked Obama because |
|
he never offered what they were looking for. Obama doesn't offer to be that kind of authoritarian parental figure. He's a different kind of leader.

of the biggest critics of the President. However, I cannot disagree with you. Their lack of action (or willingness) is at least in part, the reason why the President had to negotiate from a point of weakness. The reason why so many just make the assumption that it was the President (in my opinion), is that they are used to his folding on other issues...or accepting less than he should on behalf of the American people. Once a pattern is established, it is much easier to make that assumption in the future.

12. Americans are temperamentally unsuited... |
|
...to a republican form of government, and, all else being equal, would just as soon be ruled by a king, provided he was of their party -- hence the difference between mid-term and Presidential election turnout.
In the latter case, because they are choosing the person over to whom they plan to turn everything while they go back to sleep, they actually show up. About half of them, anyways.

19. Honestly, I don't understand why you're attacking me. I've been and am still |
|
a supporter of Obama. You asked a question, I answered it. I think this could have been handled better, that's all. He does plenty that's "good enough" for me as I've posted ad nauseam.
If your attacks had merit I might give a shit about what you're saying to me, but since they don't, see ya. :hi:

16. People are overlooking one thing |
|
If Obama stood firm and vocally called for only tax cuts for the bottom 98%, a good many Democrats would NOT have had his back and would have voted with Republicans anyway for the tax cuts for the rich anyway.
Pelosi wanted to do this in the fall, but over 40 Democrats signed a stupid letter demanding only tax cuts for everybody, meaning that with a combined GOP minority, there were not 218 votes to decouple the tax cuts. Almost all of these folks were the usual suspects: the Blue Dogs, the "New" Democrats, the DLCers and the folks in Red districts. And that latter point is key because Obama has little to no influence right now in those districts, and is if anything, a liability. Example: Was Blanche Lincoln any more helpful to Obama after he supported her in the primary?
The notion that some Blue Dog in Arkansas or Mississippi is going to be swayed by a really swell speech by Barack Obama about taxes is sheer fantasy.

20. Short attention span. |
|
The American public want everything fixed right now, and forget about anything that happened more than a few days ago. The main stream media puts all the blame on Obama (they protect a republican president) and Obama is the leader of the government, so he gets all the blame. The msm hardly ever points out that the republicans are blocking all efforts to improve things. The public doesn't care how long it took us to get into this hole, they want out NOW! And the media, and talking heads are more than happy to keep the public ignorant about the root causes of our economic troubles (big business pays the bills), and our economic system works for their benefit.
