First Read: DREAM Act Vote (House passed bill) Moved to Next Week
DREAM Act vote moved to next week

From NBC's Chuck Todd and Domenico Montanaro

The Senate will not vote on the DREAM act today. Instead, they'll vote next week on the version the House passed last night, according a Senate leadership aide.

That doesn't mean the bill is dead. It actually means this won't just be a symbolic vote. Democrats don't have the votes yet, but they think they might -- might -- have a chance to corral enough votes for passage.

Democrats need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster.

1. There is no way they will get 60 votes for cloture. The republicans are stopping everything. nt

2. That explained the really weird pattern of votes
with mostly Democrats voting to table it. I guess bringing it now would lead to defeat.

4. This bill and the people it effects are the hostages that the GOP is
holding. Also the firefighters who's health care bill was tabled.
