Have we ever had members of this forum run for office?
I was wondering about this today. How big is this forum? How many members does it have?

I've read how the Democratic Party has moved to the right due to Republicans switching parties after the GOP was taken over by Evangelicals. So they infiltrated and caused a deep change to what the Democrats stood for.

Then, instead of wishing and hoping for a truly progressive third party, wouldn't it be more feasible for progressives to "re-infiltrate" the Democratic Party and take it back from the DINO's?

This forum is full of really brilliant people. Educated, informed, committed and passionate about politics; with their hearts and minds in the right place. Not everyone here is like that, of course. But there are enough that when I read their posts I think I'd like to have them in office, being congresspeople, Senators, etc.

Why don't more DUers run for office? Is it for economic reasons? Is it because you need corporate backing to run? Or is is something else?

Please excuse me if this doesn't make any sense. I guess I'm just rambling here, but it is something that I've wondered, because I think the only thing that can save this country is a change WITHIN The party; and that could start with DU

1. GOP was taken over by Machivellians, not Evangelicals.
