So add 55+ers to Medicare using reconciliation and dare them to take that away 5 years later |
|
I think once that program is expanded, it's not going away.

1. But what happens to everyone under 55? |
|
Will they have access to a public option instead of being forced to buy private health insurance with annual caps and no guarantee that pre-existing conditions will be done away with?

Government programs are very hard to take away. SCHIP was created in 1997 and has only grown since then; same with Americorps.
BUT to pass reconciliation rules, it has to reduce the deficit, even if by only a small amount. This CBO analysis has be nervous.
