13. If You Really Want To Go Back To The Root |
|
If you really want to go back to the root we wouldn't be having this infernal debate about tax cuts for the rich if Gore won and we wouldn't be choking on a massive deficit as we wouldn't be spending trillions of dollars on invading foreign nations.
Without Nader's 97,000 votes in Florida, two thirds of which would have went to Al Gore, the state's Electoral College Votes and the election would never have been close enough to steal.

I don't think we could've predicted that it would be as close as it was. Yes, it was going to be close, but to put the blame squarely on Nader is unfair, imo. Gore could've done a better job appealing to folks with eventually voted for Nader.

19. Everyone knew the poll numbers |
|
Nader should have pulled out of Florida and any other states where he could have given the win to repukes.
but his ego wouldn't let him. and i GUARANTEE you, he took lots of money from repukes to stay in the race.
if another 3rd party idiot runs in 2012, say hello to President Palin.

will run third-party. I could see her doing that. I don't believe she will have enough support to win the Rep. nomination. Third party is the only option for her, imo.

21. Why would she do that when she OWNS the republican base. |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 11:54 AM by bushisanidiot
she is in charge of the tea bagging repukes now. no one on the right is fighting her, except behind closed doors.
the repukes wants red meat and she throws it too them with a wink and a smile.. and a little leg.
she's not going anywhere.

22. She's certainly not going anywhere, that's for sure. |
|
But I don't think she really has the full support of the Republican party nor of the majority of republican voters.
The far right loves her, no doubt. Don't think those in the middle do, and that'll likely cost her the nomination.

17. Hence My Remark That Nader Made It Close Enough To Steal |
|
Bush* won* Florida by 537 votes. I don't think anybody would argue the majority of those 97,000 votes came out of Al Gore's hide.

My 1st reaction was the same, oh jeez why is O'donnell giving
Nader the time of day then my hubby said, wait let's listen and we did and
damn it - he made a lot of sense. I want to hate him and everything he
was about to say, but I just couldn't.....

11. The old racist has a point at times, but.... |
|
...ultimately ANYONE can say anything when they haven't a hope of ever being elected. If I became a politician, idealised and told of what I WANT to happen, I'd be derided as a far left loon without a hope of getting anywhere fast. I could say what I wanted because I would never have to exist with the possibility of election to high office and the issues that conjures.

I *do* think Ralph Nader's ego is part of the reason we had to suffer through GWB as president, but there's no doubt in my mind that he's a smart guy with some perspectives worth listening to.
