It isn't the President who is being held hostage it is us, the American citizens, and we must fight back. Forget for the moment Obama's many acts that frustrate us and think of those that are abusing us all thinking they will win hearts and minds. And then will win our votes. First of all that is a stupid equation. Hearts and minds are won by those who demonstrate loyalty, compassion and intelligence. Does that sound like the Republicans? The GOP is running a protection racket with a dose of sedition thrown in and the only way to deal with them is to take the punches and punch back harder and smarter. Bullies never could stand up to those who are not frightened by them and that is where we should now be. Bernie Sanders was doing some punching back in his mini-filibuster yesterday. We need to do some fighting of our own and that won't happen as long as we focus on President Obama and his administration. We must get very very mad and express it. Not violently. We just must let the bullies know that whatever they want they are not going to get it from us. By us I mean Americans of all stripes not just Democrats or liberals or progressives. We need to be telling those we encounter that they are being punched, verbally abused and condescended to by their inferiors. I have an analogy from my younger years when my sons were very young. We would be shopping and each, as they reached the age of 2 or 3, would throw a tantrum in the store. I might be over food I wouldn't buy for him or a toy but it only happened once for each of them. Because when they threw the tantrum I would tell them that if they didn't stop I would leave the store immediately. The shocker for them was that is exactly what I did sometimes having to leave our groceries in the cart. One of the boys stole a dime store toy to get his way and was shocked when I walked him back to the store and made him give it to the clerk and apologize. What I am trying to say is that the bad behavior and abuse we are getting from the GOP does not have to work for them if we don't let it. We don't need to call them names but we do need to call out their behavior and shine a light on it and let the world see their tantrums. Two questions to ask those who spout GOP/Fox memes: 1. And then what? 2. Why? And smile!
