Today I mourn the death of my dear radio KUDO 1080am
I have listened to KUDO since the mid 90's...Mostly David Lawrence when (then fun) Art Bell was extra-crappy. In 2000?-2001 KUDO became one of the first Air America stations and I was there for listening all the time from then on. The Young Turks!!!!(still fav and still listen), Al Franken, Rachel and Liz... Stephanie Miller and Big Eddie from the first day, Randy, Lionel, Thom.. and our local people the McClears, Erin, CC, Shannon, Kathy (Im sorry Im leaving out many)

I am really sad about this.
RIP KUDO.

4. The IBEW wanted out of the radio bidness, apparently
According to the article at http://www.adn.com/2010/12/11/1600027/alaska-ear.html, the station was owned by a local of the IBEW. The station has apparently ceased operations and all talent is going to show up on a new station, branded "FOX News Talk".

Yeah, that's sure weird. Liberals on a FOX radio station.

10. It's not really "FOX News"
Essentially, Premiere Radio Networks (aka Clear Channel) contracts with FOX to use their name for their hourly news updates. Kinda the same as the agreement they have with FOX Sports for radio broadcasts. Although it does work with CC's many, many conservotalk radio outlets.

And they do syndicate to non-CC stations, just like ABC and CBS do.

6. I googled and it says progressive radio is on 1020 KOAN now.
"Tune in to the new 1020 KOAN for news and talk, including
The Shannyn Moore Show, Alan Colmes, Demo Memo, Beer 101, redORrick Show,
Alaska Travelgram and Getting Down to Business with Dave Weatherholt."

Not Stephanie Milller, Big Ed or Thom. Brian Fox and Friends on right now. I am UPSET.

9. Tibbit, re KUDO...
Edited on Wed Dec-29-10 09:53 PM by Blue_In_AK
Shannyn is on KOAN, AM 1020, from 11:00 to 2:00 just like she was on KUDO. The management at KOAN has said that if they get 150 or more calls from listeners requesting Thom Hartmann, they would give it serious consideration. The day Shannyn announced that, there were 120 calls within a half hour, so I'm sure they reached the 150 threshold. If you want to call there, the numnber is 907-522-1018.

I don't know if you were listening to KUDO on line or on the radio, but I thought you might be interested in this. Even though KOAN is a Fox News affiliate, Shannyn's format is the same and she is as feisty as ever.

I kind of like the idea of progressives infiltrating Fox News. :)
