They're not talking about people, I bet, because their term for people is "campaign donor".
Excessive unemployment creates desperation, invites to persecution of organized labor and encourages depressed labor. The absence of additional tax revenue adds to the mix, because it gives them an excuse to promote a shrinkage of government services and regulations.
If we actually had full employment in this country, I doubt that we'd have as many Republicans.

It acts as a floor on wages, albeit a deeply flawed one, because a person who had his job taken away, doesn't have to take the first crappy job he or she finds and can hold out, at least for awile, for a job that is comparable to the one that is taken away.
