DADT was rightfully repealed and I'm glad, but......
I honestly think it passed only because it doesn't affect the richest of the rich in their pocketbooks. That's all they really care about, and I suppose that Obama is being allowed to score some points on social issues because it doesn't really cost the powerful anything monetarily. Powerful coservatives don't really care about social issues, after all. They only use them as propaganda to achieve their real goal: tax cuts, tax cuts, and more tax cuts for the rich, and ripping off the poor and middle class.

Now, apparently, according to a current OP on this forum, Obama feels emboldened to start cutting Social Security.

So, while I rejoice over the repeal of DADT, I will remain vigilant in my opposition to the further erosion of the middle class. And it is coming. The tax cut extensions for the rich were just the beginning.:-(

1. Ugh... Lordy. You believe everything that is a rumor? Yes, Obama is a corporatist.

His goal is to destroy the poor and middle class, that's why he tried to give them health care, extend unemployment up to 18 months, and continue the tax breaks for the middle class. What a bastard!

2. And more young men and women will qualify
to fight in wars to defend the wealth of the rich.

Super!

Hey, I'm all for DADT repeal, but I am also all against wars of imperialism.

Peace,
Tex Shelters

12. I wish I had your
optimism about the "legal" ending of DADT. I think the second that law hit the SC it was going to be upheld. Even if Obama decided not to appeal the ruling the next puke administration would resurrect it in a heartbeat.

9. That would be nice.
Some constructive criticism should be appreciated.

But I'm sick of the entire rain on our parade mantra.

(get the pun?)

7. Civil rights are priceless

If it is not to you at least it is for many that have being discriminated against.

If all you care about is the economy, be happy that now the LGBT can add a source of employment to their choices and thus improve their financial situation in the event that they lack a source of income.

10. Good point. LGBT need equal economic freedom as much as they need anything. And the repeal of DADT
helps them. But the battle goes on until we can get full marriage equality nationwide.
