I know polls are meaningless, but today was a good day for the president
Gallup 46-45 (+1)
CNN 48-48
Rasmussen 49-50 (-1)

Sure, Ras will "correct" his screens soon and he'll be back down to -11, but, at least for now, people seem to be pretty happy with his performance in the past few days (i.e. 1 full day of polling after DADT and in the wake of the tax compromise).

3. I'm getting mixed messages here.
So these are meaningless polls where a wash indicates a marked improvement?

4. Looks pretty good, actually
Considering what's happening out there economically -and the elections just a month ago - upper 40s looks pretty darn good to me. I"ll take it!

5. Meaningless polls headline was because polls this far out are always met with skepticism
I figured I would just get it out of the way in the title. I should probably rephrase my first response to you that, if this begins a trend it will be a marked improvement over what the trend was showing around the mid-terms.

8. What are these numbers for? Popularity? Approval generally? Approval of some bill?
Might vote for him in 2012?
