Obama called UConn coach Geno Auriemma after the UConn women's basketball team won its 89th straight game, surpassing the UCLA men for the most consecutive victories in collegiate basketball.

The women’s basketball carnival, which reached the height of surreal Tuesday night with a call from President Barrack Obama during the midst of Geno Auriemma’s post-game interview, will likely calm down for a while, now that the magic No 88 and record-breaking 89th consecutive wins have been achieved.
“No, you’re not interrupting anything,” Auriemma told the president. “If I was calling you and you had all those reporters in front of you, you’d be dying to take my phone call.”
Auriemma thanked the president for “that lesson you gave (UConn) on the White House lawn,” and was reminded by Obama that UConn hasn’t lost since he was inaugurated. Hopefully we can keep that streak going for a couple more years.”
