2. Noonan attempted to cast the repeal of DADT as a centrist position

The liberal president moved to the center on this issue because centrists in the country embraced the repeal.

That's got to be up there in the pantheon of failed talking points of 2010. A real last gasp, grasping at a straw.

16. They will be getting a New Deal..
alright and it isn't going to be the one they planned. I wonder what in the hell they think people will do with out any resources,do they really, really think that people are going to sit their and watch them prance around with their riches and flaunting it in our faces bragging on tv every morning and telling everyone to go get a job when there aren't any.

Do they really think that people are going to let their children and families starve while they play games with our lives..time is running out for the bullshit,I can't wait until January let the games begin..

While that's happening the wealthy will kick back and enjoy the spectacle. It's a sick bunch.

20. Do you remember the article a DUer posted about the ultra wealthy and their boats?
It was something about how the very wealthy were investing in ocean going vessels that could function as retreats from the marauding lower classes. You know, for when the shit finally hits the fan.

Good comments followed like asking how they were going to survive their mutinous servants.

I think the 1st quarter of next year will doom the Republicans. They will not be focused on the economy, they will open investigation after investigation into things that are not important. Meanwhile, they will do nothing about the Job situation.

because they really think they have a mandate, when their base begins to complain about what they are doing it will be too late in some cases as usual. Then the media will begin blaming the President as usual. I will be watching and waiting to see what the so called Dems will be doing...

24. Not only do they not create jobs they are sitting on piles of
money. They incentives need to be reversed, they are getting money to out source jobs. They should get penalized for outsourcing jobs and rewarded for bringing jobs back to America.

Her utterings on MSNBC's Morning Joe a week ago was bad enough...she was so embarrassing they had to take her out of a segment and when she returned she was penitent...

10. No, she just got very haughty, leaned back in her chair and, thru slitted eyes,
sneered at NYT financial writer Andrew Ross Sorkin, "and why did you pick THAT out of your little...BRAIN?" Sorkin looked stunned and the rest of the guests on the show looked stunned, too. It was one of the most astonishingly nasty looks/remarks I've seen made live on TV political shows...

Sorkin is a very young looking guy and they kid him about it on the show. Nevertheless, he has written a book about the financial collapse in the fall of 2007 and is currently a writer at the NYT.

She was attempting to contradict one of his statements about republicans and I can't remember the exact reference, but I hooted my approval of his question when she pulled this "grande dame" routine.

What was truly funny was the fact that Scarborough and his yes woman, Mika, was furiously trying to portray Morning Joe as "middle of the road," not vindictive or "extreme," being well mannered while also thought provoking...so that was a REAL problem for the show's producer...my guess is he pulled her from the lineup for the next segment...they took her aside, gave her another cup of coffee and said she had to make amends...which she did. She was offset for the next segment and then on set for the one after (and apologetic), but it was too late...

11. Wow! I've never seen Sorkin be anything but informative and respectful
Edited on Sun Dec-26-10 06:08 PM by eleny
So I'm sure he was pretty shocked at Noonan's behavior towards him.

It puts me in mind of how Lawrence O'Donnell lost it on his program recently. The next night he was being so sweet I thought I'd gag, lol. He gave himself a "rewrite".

I'm going to see if I can find a video of that Noonan gem. The thing is that she works so hard at appearing even tempered and thoughtful. Nice when the curtain gets pulled back and we get a peek at the real snake inside.

Eta: Found the video. Jeez! Nasty piece of work!

12. My son in law is a political consultant who works at the Kennedy School at Harvard...he says
that she showed up at one of the Kennedy School's discussion forums drunk and barely coherent...and he isn't given to any kind of exaggeration...

You "might" be able to find it on the program's MSNBC's website, but if not, try Youtube. It might be there.

As for Morning Joe, she didn't really repent, but she was "respectful" as all getout in the later segment. I guess the Wall St. Journal, for whom she constantly cheers on, doesn't give a crap that she's their worst example...OY...

13. I found the video and it was interesting
The video was in two parts. One with Sorkin and one when he was gone and she evidently returned.

In the first one Joe appeared shocked and asked her to be nice. Then in the second they talked about content on the air and she seemed snide. Mika had the last word by thanking her in a sarcastic way for being on the show. Maybe there will be a silver lining and other shows will hesitate to have her back.

14. Well, the interesting thing is that the whole program was supposed to be the
"coming together" of the right and left and the value of "compromise."

Noonan blew that to hell with her treatment of Sorkin. It was an embarrassing "moment" in that aura of "compromise" for the higher good of society or whatever...

It showed up the real hypocrisy of the Right on politics....

15. Same thing for Scarbo..
compromise to them is if everything on the table is what the CONS want, they really want people to believe this no labels bullshit.

They throw in a few so called Dems and it then whom they call moderates who really vote for everything republiCONS want.

I am also tired of them throwing Bloomberg in our faces as though he is the authority on all things in politics,he is just another rich bitch who buys elections, and he is nothing more than another CON...

7. I can't stand even looking at her let alone listening to her. Talk about an elitist!
Just the way she scrunches her nose while smiling smugly as she's listening to someone she agrees with (who's usually bashing Obama) is maddening. Then when she talks, she closes her eyes, sways her head from side to side, and just lies her butt off.

19. I caught a little bit of it...
The thing that I took from MTP was that "Unions" are going to be the scape goat du jour for the GOP 2011.... The LBGT community is soooo 2004 and now with DADT repeal... well now it is a "centrist position"... And the illegal immigrant scapegoat is going to become so 2008/2010 once the GOP realizes that with the new Census numbers they cannot win without at least 40% support in the Hispanic community.

I heard Peggy Noonan talking about compromise and she directed her need for give and take at public employee's unions - I cannot quote her, but the impression she left no me was that it was the new talking point and that combined with some impressions that I got over the last few weeks was that Unions would be the new #1 GOP scapegoat.

Anybody else get that impression?

22. Union hating is an evergreen activity of repukes...and has been for as long as I have
been politically aware. Particularly government workers, from public school teachers to retired cops and firefighters (tho not as much them as schoolteachers, who are REVILED by the RW) and postal workers. Why? Because they have benefits "the rest of us" don't have.

This is called the "politics of resentment" and is a classic example of the rich using resentment as an instrument of divide and conquer. You are SUPPOSED to hate your neighbor across the street because she works at City Hall, even tho she may attend your church and send her kids to the same school as your kids...and NOT live in an elegant house, but just be a neighbor. These repuke bastards turn worker against worker and it's disgusting...truly nasty stuff...
