I would be fine with Michael Vick returning to football
if every cent he makes from now on would go to animal welfare groups. That would be true redemption.

1. Because your main problem is that he makes a lot of money?

If he gave all his money away to fund animal welfare groups then this former dogfighter would be idolized and admired even more than now. So it's not the fact of what he did in the past, its the fact that he makes a lot of money.

5. There is a vast disparity between Vick and the average felon and you know it.

2. So would this apply to all ex-convicts, or just Michael Vick?

9. Of course this would be voluntary.
That would show true rehabilitation on his part. Rehab and redemption are about restitution for the wrongs you have committed.
He has an ability to generate vast sums of money which could greatly benefit animals. His fans would could feel good about his
contributions to the game and the rest of could feel good about his contributions to the welfare of animals.

If other ex-convicts chose to do similarly that would be a social good as well.

3. Does this apply to all felonies, or is this a one time Michael Vick law?

4. So he can't support himself or his family?
Every single cent he makes should go to animal welfare? That's just ridiculous. How about 10%? That's going to end up being at least a million a year and he can still pay off his creditors and support his family.

10. The point is he would make a true sacrifice.
I am sure that he has residual wealth from his earlier career to provide for himself quite nicely. No one has said he became impoverished.

13. Well actually he owes $22 million to creditors.
He doesn't have residual wealth from before. A large portion of the money he has made the past two years has gone to them. The rest will go to them as he makes it. He'll be back in black after the new contract.

I still think it's ridiculous to expect him to give everything he makes away.

8. What I think matters just as much or as little as what you think.
Get over that.

7. Don't care about Vick, don't care about football
I do care about animals so I don't believe he needs a place in the limelight.

12. He did the crime....
... and as I've stated before, according this nation's laws, did the time. This Vick crap and the logic behind the arguments are getting just fucking lame. I think it's the money and the fame that are getting most worked up. It's just starting to sound fucking dumb. Thanks.

14. I think Vick can do whatever he wants as long as it's legal except
he should never be allowed around another dog again. Or any other animal for that matter.

Being that utterly heartless and cruel to creatures that cry in pain while you torture them shows he has no business having power over vulnerable living creatures. He should never be allowed to have an opportunity to hurt a living creature again. Outside of that he can do whatever he wants to make a living.
