Not as long as I am around...or Northwest Iowa Democrats.. will we cave to the negativity
Edited on Tue Dec-15-09 09:45 AM by Peacetrain
that is trying to bring down the President and Democrats in general.. I hope you heard Vice President Biden this morning on the Morning Joe show..

We are going to succeed.. and it will not be pretty, because it NEVER is..

Legislating and law making, law changing is tough work.. and compromise is part of it no doubt.. but we are going to win.

And before I get a gazillion, cat calls for being a cheerleader.. If this board can support the nah nahs.. it can support the yeah yeah's too..

God I love Biden..

EDIT TO ADD.. over two years ago, they told us in Iowa, when we came out for the Democrats and the canidate Obama, that this was a no go in our older than sweat and whiter than snow state.

We were here and solid then, proved them wrong, and we will be here and solid later..

1. We ARE going to succeed even if it isn't this year. And it IS going to be ugly but sweet
kicking some ROYAL-Republican ass out of office in 2010!

3. You're right about the ugly part, but I'll take this gladly...
Among the areas of agreement:

_ Requiring most people to have a certain level of health care coverage. In the Senate bill, those who don't would pay a $750 penalty after 2016, up to a maximum of $2,250 per family. The House penalty is on a sliding scale, depending on income.

_ Helping those who have trouble paying for coverage. Both bills offer help to people who earn up to 400 percent of the poverty level, currently about $88,000 a year for a family of four.

_ Creating health insurance exchanges. Though the bills differ in how the exchanges would be set up, they agree that consumers would be able to shop for coverage and rates easily through the exchange, or marketplace. Exchanges would have to offer four kinds of plans, from basic to premium. Basic plans would cover 70 percent of the actuarial value of costs in the House version, 60 percent in the Senate bill.

_ Barring insurers from denying coverage or charging people more because of pre-existing conditions.

_ Ending separate rates because of gender, which now is allowed in most states. In addition, both bills would limit how much more an insurer could charge someone because of age.

I also hope, after something is passed, that Dems think long and hard about what to do with Lieberman. He's repulsive and needs to retire.

5. "helping those who have trouble paying"
The current Senate bill does not have enough help. If we keep the House subsidy rates, then we've got something to go with. But if the Senate rates win, this will be a nightmare.

I wish Reid would tell the pugs to go ahead and filibuster. Show the country how obstructionist and ugly they are. Even FUX couldn't wallpaper that one.
ETA - Being a positive Progressive in Steve King's district has to be hard.

BTW - I hear that the admin will take over the prison in Illinois today. I hope King's head explodes!

14. People are stupid.
They have no sense of history, no perspective, and not even a bit of understanding of how progress was always achieved in America. Just bunch of hair plucking. I always thought that our side was the intelligent one. This is a sad sobering.
