"I agree with you. Now make me do it." |
|
A famous (if approximate" FDR quote.
After theSS tax holiday, continuation of the Bush tax cuts for the rich, and a few other obvious actions, I'm beginning to think this could have been Obama speaking to the Republicans.

1. I don't care who said it, I call bullshit on that line. You do what is right because it is right, |
|
not because somebody makes you do it.
What would anyone here who has kids think if they tried to pull such a crap line on you?

3. You need to look at the context. FDR was telling liberals that he needed |
|
them to go home and "make" him do it so he could get these things passed by a reluctant congress. He was asking them to show support for these ideas. Yeah, FDR had to fight to get things through congress!

5. He didn't mean trash his efforts as not good enough |
|
In fact, he was reminding voters that Congress has to believe they want something in order to pass it.
It's still a pretty dumb line. There's no way for everyone to "make" the POTUS do what they want on a thing.
It's not like the POTUS was the one in the way, either. Make the congressmen do it.
