For people interested in the behind the scenes goings on - Ezra Klein so far today on Twitter:

Ezra Klein: "This "Rahm made us do it" stuff seems like such transparent spin from the leadership... "

Brian Beutler of TPM: "@ezraklein you think Rahm didn't do what they say he did? Definitely leadership doesn't want blame but if Rahm twisted arms, he twisted arms "

Ezra Klein: @brianbeutler I think this is PR so people blame WH rather than Reid, not the actual story of why the decision got made.

Brian Beutler: @ezraklein like I said, buck passing. But the fact is Rahm's approach & demands tell u everything u need 2 know about the WH's position.

Ezra Klein: @brianbeutler Sure, but WH's position was clear for awhile now. The concerted leadership leaks to blame Rahm were the new development.

Brian Beutler: @ezraklein "The concerted leadership leaks to blame Rahm were the new development." If only that were new...

Bottom line - Reid never had 60 votes in the Senate. We will get passed out of the Senate what we KNEW we could get passed out of the Senate. A lot of raised hopes burst and we are back where we started. Only difference is roller-coaster ride Dems emotions went through since Reid included the Opt Out. The White House never thought there were the votes to pass that in the Senate in the first place - which, like it or not, appears to be true.

Bad guy = Lieberman. The dick should have took part in the negotiations between the moderate/centrist Dem Senators and the liberal members or shot the Medicare expansion deal down immediately instead of letting it drag out. He's a loathsome toad.

4. I was just sitting here wondering....
..... if Trigger was gonna come galloping back in during the conference time frame.

Obviously, Lieberman doesn't like Trigger .... or he didn't like him last week, who in the heck knows what he likes now.

And if you look at things from a cynical, political standpoint, the one way to make Trigger more likeable to progressives is to take away the PO all-together and then "restore" it through Trigger.

Should be interesting.
