1. She would be good.
But on the other hand, she would have to defend Obama's policies and decisions even if she doesn't agree with them and I don't see her doing that.

2. She was my first thought, but then she often is, but she wouldn't be able to
be objective and tell us stuff we need to know like she does now. I think she serves a greater good where she is.

3. Yes, she'd be great, but
I'd much rather hear her real opinions.

(your entire description of her is completely accurate, though)

8. No good.
Basically the Press Secretary is the mouthpiece of the White House and says what he or she is told to say. I can't see anyone scripting Rachel Maddow and telling her what she can and can't say. She's too much of a straight shooter (or what a politician probably thinks of as a loose cannon). She'd say exactly what they thought and that would scare the crap out of politicians.

12. Yeahbutno.
The press secretary is a proxy position, acting as a mouthpiece of the administration. I can't see her subverting her own opinions, and her own identity, to act as somebody she's not.

13. I agree.
First of all, Rachel is far too smart for that lapdog job. Second, she is far too valuable and needed in her current position on air. Third, Obama doesn't deserve her or anyone half as good as her. He should hire Dana Perino. She'd be a seamless transition from Robert "I Hate" Libbs.

14. I can see Maddow as a press consultant.

She needs a filter, to simplify her arguments for the bottom 50%.

edit: missing letter

16. Rachel is excellent in her element...
but a better choice, IMO, would be Karen Finney.

Brains, a great sense of humor and she really knows her stuff. She also knows virtually all of the WH correspondents and how they operate. Finney can't be buffaloed either. I've seen her take on the best and come out a winner every time.

19. Rachel has much more freedom in her present job and that's
why she loves it and is so good at it. Being a Press Secretary is a political job and requires knowing how to spread the lies.
