22. The OP didn't say anything about her going away....
Will this be the end of her political career?

I think her political career did end when she resigned. This event, if we are lucky, will put an end to her voicing her assinine political views.

7. She is toast officially now. Yep, her backers will still love her; but
she needs more support than that to get anywhere. No chance in hell now of even pretending that she could gather those non-backer votes.

When you are so stupid as to deliver a message re our political system, about getting 20 people out of their elective office, by putting crosshair targets on them, you better have been praying that none of them are ever shot. Because if that happens even to 1 of them, people are going to forever associate your name, your incitement with that "target's" injury and/or death, and make a connection that will consign your stupid ass to the dustbin of electoral history.

And it happened today. And her backers can love every minute of it, as deeply as they wish - but Palin has just officially become as irrelevant to politics as are her backers. I think the fact that after a spell of silence on her FB page, this is what she chooses to respond to finally on her page is an acknowledgement that this could be her Waterloo.

4. That's what I said about George W. Bush about 4PM September 11, 2001. This country
does not react rationally to events.

Jeez - I talk about the Constitution all the time. And here I thought I was a Democrat.

17. Not just that...
he also rambled about not trusting the 'current' government and was paranoid about having to use foreign currency that isn't backed by gold and silver. Those three things together sound very right-wing to me.

10. Her stupid "career" has been over for some time.
What is remarkable is that people are still talking about that woman. Why? Good God, she's a total loser. The media is obsessed with irrelevance.

She's done and she will be undone by the GOP country club establishment that hate her anyway.

24. She will get stronger in the GOP. Big money will be coming in for her.
This shooting will inspire the teabaggers and anti-government republicans even more and they will feel more empowered. They will see it as progress.

18. Electability - absolutely. Political career, maybe not so much
But the specter of a miracle comeback in time for 2012 still holds too much of a house of horrors thrill to it for some to let go of it easily.

Her political career will likely continue with books (ghost-written) and speeches for those who will still have her (and I'm sure some will).

20. Since this incident got Congress' and the President's attention
as well as all American's you may be right. I'm sure it has struck more fear into all of them no matter what party they're in. The Congresspersons themselves might just start condemning the hate speech in their own midst.

It's time to be civil again.

23. You have a higher respect for right wing ass hats
than I do. They are cheering her now, and she is chuckling with them when the cameras are off. She is a coward and a liar. But that is what the kind of people who vote for her want. She is getting rich off of hate and stupidity. Those who vote for her are ass holes for nothing.

26. SHOULD be, but probably WON'T be - the MSM is covering for her as much as possible
If anyone STILL had any doubts about their RW bias, their bending over backwards to keep criticism from her should put that to rest.

If anyone on DU still advocates that this woman run for President and have more of a share of the national dialogue than she already has (which should have been ZERO in the first place), I have to ask what the hell they're thinking.

It should be clear that the MSM will not put her in check or call her on words or deeds that are out of bounds.

How much more of a soapbox does any sane person want to give her to keep up the dogwhistles? She and her minions are crying "victimization" and the MSM is playing along.

I think even some righties who were on the fence about her are rushing to her defense - as if she was the wounded party! Don't underestimate the stupidity of the american people...and the media!
