The Youngest Victim (updated)

The Youngest Victim

by GlowNZ

One of the six people murdered was a nine year old child.

Her name was Christina Taylor Green. She was from Tuscon. She was the youngest victim of what happened today.

She had just been elected to the student body council at her school. One of her neghbours invited her to Representive Giffords event because they thought she would enoy the experience.

"The next thing you know this happened. How do you prepare for something like this. My little niece got killed-took one on the chest and she is dead,"

That was from her heartbroken Uncle.

Christina loved to play baseball and took part in ballet.

<...>

She isn't a statistic. She isn't just a name in the newspaper. She was a living breathing child. Who had her own dreams and favorite things. Now in a split second her family won't get to see her graduate high school, maybe college. Won't get to see her succeed in whatever she wanted to do. Won't get to see her fall in love with a special person. All her family is left with are tears and memories.

This from aigeanta

@GregMitch Greg Mitchell
RT @KOLD_news13: The 9-year-old shot dead today at the Giffords event was featured in a book “Faces of Hope: Babies Born on 9/11."

And for god's sake, she was only Nine years old.

more

RIP Christina.

1. Born on 9/11, dead at age of 9 in year 11 of this century...
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 01:45 AM by hlthe2b

As described (in composite) on other DU threads: "She was to be a beacon of hope to soothe the pain of 9/11, only to be cut down at the age of 9 in year 11 of this century, by a political assassin who was egged on by hateful rhetoric from the people that politicized 9/11." A child, Sarah Palin. Her blood and that of 18 other people is on your hands and that of others of your ilck.

2. what a beautiful little girl.
and with such a bright and promising future. This is so incredibly sad. I truly hope we (this Country) can give her a fitting legacy. I don't know what it is or should be... but she deserves a fitting legacy.

14. you're right
To me she's the face of this tragedy, as horrible as the other deaths and injuries are, because she was so innocent (the other victims were too, of course, but her life had only just begun). For such a young life to have been lost because, in part, of the self-serving violent rhetoric that fed the fuel of that man's mental illness is so horrible and so wrong.

She sounds like such a sweet girl that if her death softens some hearts and tones down some anger and makes the country a better place, that would indeed be a legacy that could bring some meaning to this loss.

17. I agree....
And like you, I don't want to minimize the horrible tragedy for the other victims and their families... For me, like you, this little girl is the face of this tragedy. Born on 9-11 and lived 9 short years, so innocent, she had her entire life in front of her. She deserves a fitting legacy.
