Fact: If Jared Jared Loughner Was Muslim, Black or Mexican, The Media Would Call Him a Terrorist.
That's just a sad god-damned fact about the pass a white male assassin gets from the corporate news media.

If this white young man had been Muslim, Black or Latino, we'd be hearing the word "terrorism" 24/7 on the television, radio, internet and in printed media.

Guess what? He's a white male, so he's just "crazy". No "terrorism" drum beating...at all.

What a shitty, glaring double standard the media has created for itself.

Really shitty.

1. Anyone who willingly commits Jihad is crazy in my book

But yeah, I get your point and I agree. It's domestic terrorism plain and simple. You can't tell me that there aren't politicians who are sh*tting themselves right about now over meeting with their constituents without some sort of protection (like a bubble). That's what terrorism is--the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear

10. Not really...Jihad is the highest level religious act and
the fastest way to Allah's heaven. That is explicitly spelled
out in their religious book.

12. Well not really for your definition as well
The fact is that the word "jihad" has different meaning depending on the context of the dicussion.

The Quran does call for "jihad" as a military struggle on behalf of Islam. But the Quran also refers to jihad as an internal, individual, spiritual struggle toward self-improvement, moral cleansing and intellectual effort. It is said that Prophet Muhammad considered the armed-struggle version of holy war "the little jihad," but considered the spiritual, individual version of holy war--the war within oneself--as "the great jihad."

Also, Madrassa means "school" and Taliban means "student".

3. And, if the target were a Rightwing Republican, they'd be calling for mass roundups and deportation
Is the FBI going to call Sarah Palin and all her Teabag followers in for "special security interviews", like they did Muslims and persons from Arab countries after 9/11?

Not bloody likely.

4. Plus,
He probably wouldn't be in jail right now. We would be waiting for the autopsy report after he committed "suicide". I guess it's the privilege card at work.

14. K&R
Jared Loughner is a terrorist - it was the first word my friend and I used when we heard the news yesterday. I haven't heard him called that by the media, though.
Joe Stack was a terrorist, too, although I don't think I heard anyone outside of MSNBC's evening line-up call him that.

I did, however, hear Major Nidal Hasan (Fort Hood shooter) referred to as a terrorist quite often - and ESPECIALLY by the RW pundits.
Hmmm...

16. Disagree about Black or Mexican.
I'm inclined to agree that any Muslim who commits ideologically-motivated violence is pretty certain to be referred to as a terrorist, but I don't think that the same is necessarily true of Blacks or Mexicans.

convicted as a terrorist, IIFC. It's not a race issue...if the RW can benefit from the terrorist meme, it gets used.

Because that's exactly what Jared Loughner is. He wanted a high body count and got one.
