"It's surveyor's symbols"
Palin staffer calls using tragedy to score political points 'obscene' :

<...>

Palinistas are furious over the accusations. Read here and here (just for starters). They blame the left using a tragedy to score political points. A Palin staffer, Rebecca Mansour told a radio talk show host Saturday that doing so is "obscene" and "appalling." In fact, she said that the "target list" was not intended to allude to guns.

"We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights," she said.

"It's surveyor's symbols," the interviewer Tammy Bruce suggested. Bruce, a Palin supporter, describes herself as "a gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, Tea Party Independent Conservative. " Her show is promoted as a "chick with a gun and a microphone."

<...>

From Palin's Facebook page, March 2010: Warning: Subject to New Politically Correct Language Police Censorship.

<...>

To the teams that desire making it this far next year: Gear up! In the battle, set your sights on next season’s targets! From the shot across the bow – the first second’s tip-off – your leaders will be in the enemy’s crosshairs, so you must execute strong defensive tactics. You won’t win only playing defense, so get on offense! The crossfire is intense, so penetrate through enemy territory by bombing through the press, and use your strong weapons – your Big Guns – to drive to the hole. Shoot with accuracy; aim high and remember it takes blood, sweat and tears to win.

Media Matters, October 2010: Conservative media figures have history of violent rhetoric

<...>

Palin: "Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!" Fox News contributor Sarah Palin posted a list of House Democrats who voted for health care reform with crosshairs aimed at their locations. In a March 23 tweet about her map, Palin wrote: " 'Don't Retreat, Instead -- RELOAD!' " Palin's list was criticized by conservative Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who introduced and endorsed Palin during the 2008 campaign, as helping foster a climate of violent rhetoric. Hasselbeck added that the list is "purely despicable" and "insane."

14. Does she think we're stupid? In a word, yes.
Just take a look at what Americans typically get worked-up about.

That little tidbit should get sent to John Stewart, and every other media source known to humanity. It's time that lying sack of shit Palin went DOWN.

10. Conservatives4Palin have Hilbuzz writer
Kevin DuJan as a front pager. He accused an innocent Kos diarist of being associated with the shooter. Every right wing blog picked up on this. Tammy Bruce and Conservascums4Palin have no right to accuse anyone of politicising this when they both repeated DuJan's disgraceful propaganda.

13. Register marks aren't used by mapmakers to note clusters, as was done on the SarahPAC map.
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 03:38 PM by Gormy Cuss
They're used to line up overlays and are usually placed in unobtrusive areas near the edge of the map.

Those are register marks alright, but Mansour and Bruce are hip deep in the manure when they claim that the campaign didn't use them to symbolize gun sights.

15. gee... I'm confused... why did they scrub the map of surveyors' symbols?
I can see why they'd try to make us forget that they'd ever used crosshairs, if they'd been angry and violent and reckless enough to do something so completely irresponsible... but for gosh sakes, surveyors' symbols seem pretty darned innocuous.

16. No point being disingenous.
I mean, really.

"Reload" is transparent enough because it entails "firing": And what that meant is absurdly clear from the context.

Being disingenous about the sighting crosshairs is as bad as trying to say "reload" implies future violence that the initial "shot" didn't. Or saying that the Dems' map with bull's eyes had something other than bull's eyes.

when is this generation's "have you no sense of decency?" moment?

It's hard to even splutter a response to this inanity.

She a "real straight shooter," that one.
