"We can disagree without being disagreeable" - Barack Obama, 9 Jan, 2008.
Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 05:41 PM by denem
Of all the issues that confront America, this is the one the President is most passionate about. Like it or not, it's the Pole Star of his political beliefs. Obama has been criticized heavily here for his quest for a common purpose, rightly, I believe, in some cases, but if there is one issue he speaks about with pure passion it's the ugliness of those who would divide the American people. It's in almost every speech: a nation facing up to itself, seeking a more perfect union.

I suggest his SOTU address will be one for the ages.

1. "Disagreeable"???? He's going to have to be a little firmer than that.
We have moved from disagreeable to violent and murderous, Mr. President. What country are you inhabiting lately?

2. Ahem - he uses that to more fully embrace the policies
Of neo-liberalism. There's no classical democratic notions
In that position - equality? Yes. Economic disparity? Hell yes.

16. Well you wrote it, so I figured you might know. To me it seems like very well done satire.

Commenting on a thread about demonizing rhetoric by creating a parody of demonizing rhetoric. (Obama is using language about demonizing political rhetoric as part of his Secret Plot to Destroy America)

18. I don't know what you want.
There's nothing satirical about being a neo-liberal,
Is there?

17. Most cliches are cliches because they are true. (not always) So do you believe that you and I
cannot have a policy disagreement unless we call each other names?
