Judging by the ferocity of the pushback
the GOP is very concerned about the fall-out from Tucson. Limbaugh is unhinged in his comments; Beck is trying to make it the Reichstag fire and Zogby is in the field with a poll asking questions about which Party is the more inflammatory. While the GOP attacks Democrats for politicizing the event, our leadership has been pretty restrained in its comments. The truth has been spoken not from DC operatives, but by a courageous survivor of the attack and an honest sheriff. Maybe the truth of the matter will seep into the American consciousness no matter how much Crowley, Gergen and their ilk try to supress it.

1. I fully expect the President to lay the smack down on them tomorrow...
.... in his own calm, serious, reassuring way. ;)

12. This speech has to be a game-changer.
The sun will surely set on his presidency if he insist on going the politically neutral bi-partisan way.

3. Given who runs the blog that first accused Kos of links to the shooter
and given how quickly Breitbart, Malkin and others ran to defend it, I am pretty convinced that the shooter was encouraged DIRECTLY by that blog. It has already made threats against Members of Congress and one regular there was reported by Larry Johnson of all people about threats made against President Obama.

4. There is a lot of irony in their whining about the "politicization" of events.
I mean isn't that what they DO?

8. Yep. Democratic politicians in particular have been very restrained.
OTOH clearly Sarah Palin and her apologists have become unhinged over this. Guilt is a wonderful thing.

9. In running to the airwaves to vigorously spread propaganda that is clearly
dishonest (such as left and right are equally guilt of hate-filled rhetoric), the RW propaganda machine is exposed for what it is. Although it has been clear to many on DU that the usual RW memes and lies are BS, I think this time they really must be desperate, and many will see how this works...the same phrase repeated over and over. The exaggerations, false equivalencies, the smears, the outrage, the denial of facts, the twisting of logic...it's all there and out in the open.

They have used fear and hate for decades and they must feel the eyes of the nation turning toward them and asking questions about Arizona and about their manipulation of the public in general.
