Lawrence O'Donnell: Overdramatic but has a point. |
|
It's funny what he said. He was like Liberals are so quick to get on Obama for so many issues. But for gun control no one from the Left or Liberal groups were calling out for change or pushing to get public opinion to change on gun control. Actually, as Rachel Maddow had pointed out: Salon, FDL, HP, TPM---all of them are pushing the exact same meme. Nothing will change.
It just goes to show that the even the media of the left is a waste of damned time. He was talking about how the grassroots people aren't fighting. For every issue---they'll be quick to judge Obama. But on this one, it's totally ignored and as he said...shows the lack of conscience.
There are few Dems who are pushing for protection rights for all people through ammunition control---if noting else. While the repub is pushing for protection for Congress.
In any event...NRA really truly owns the government but also the left media.

1. If I thought there was any chance I would be calling and calling |
|
but it has been pretty clear that no member of congress will stand and face the wrath of the NRA, except a handful.

7. Of course it was. It was supposed to be. |

He tends to be very defensive of Obama on many of the issues the left bash and criticize Obama over because he knows and understands the political climate. And yet, when it's this issue that means so much---they ignore it, call it an impossibility and don't fight for shit. It shows the irony on their position. It makes you wonder if they're fighting for the rights of the people, or are some of them just working to capitalize on Obama's failure. Because as it would seem the latter appears to be the real agenda.

But the clarity of it was surprising.

12. Our Congress has been captured by more special interests than you can shake a stick at--but they all |
|
have one thing in common--they bankroll their campaigns--their lobbyists can even legally hold fundraisers and bundle contributions. Our system is not only broken--it is mightily corrupt.
Will it ever change? Very unlikely! It is discouraging, to say the least. The Fair Elections Now Act went nowhere in the last Congress, and, of course, died with the beginning of the 112th Congress.
