16. It's unclear to me where *ANY* of you think his win is going to come from. |
|
Here in New Hampshire, he won in 2008 and the entire state government turned Blue for the first time in ages (something like a century).
But in 2010, he was so hated here that not only did we lose both Congressional seats and an open Senate seat, we also lost the State House and State Senate by over 75%. That's right -- a Democratic majority became a *VETO-PROOF* Republican majority in just two years! A three-to-two Democratic majority on the Executive Council (~our Lt. Governors) was lost to become a *UNANIMOUS* Republican majority. The only office we held on to was the Governor's chair and he's a "Democrat" just like so many other DLC/Blue Dog "Democrats". From Federal offices right down to dog catcher, the Republicans completely kicked our asses.*
Obama *IS NOT* going to win NH in 2012. If the heavens opened up and Dog-Almighty said in a voice like thunder "Vote for Obama!", he'd still lose NH. And I'm sure that this change is just as true in other "2008 Obama" states.
So from what states, *EXACTLY*, are you going to assemble enough Electoral votes to win again? Don't forget that by 2012, re-apportionment may have removed quite a few Democratic-leaning electors from the equation.
Tesha
* And yes, even though we dislike Obama and are sorely disappointed by his performance, we were out there working our hearts out for Annie Kuster, our CD-2 Congressional candidate, Paul Hodes, our former CD-2 Congressman and then Senate candidate, and our State House Reps, State Senator, and Executive Councilor. They all lost, of course, because in just two years, the NH electorate has come to despise Obama and was hugely disappointed in the complete inability of the Federal Democrats to get done *ANYTHING OF ANY SUBSTANCE*.

http://www.miscellanyblue.com/post/2591074037/obama-nh-job-approval-mirrors-national-riseIn the latest New Hampshire Poll from American Research Group (ARG), 47% of Granite State adults say they approve of the way President Obama is handling his job as president. 36% say they disapprove and 18% are undecided. This marks a dramatic swing from the last survey in September, when 34% expressed approval and 55% disapproved. But I fully expect that this poll will be ignored in favor of anecdotal evidence from "progressives I've talked to."

24. We normally don't lose the midterms by *THREE TO ONE*. |
|
That's how bad it was here in New Hampshire back in November.
And I'll admit I'm susceptible to persuasion by polls, and it's good that there's a poll that shows Obama isn't as despised as he was a couple of months ago, but I have to tell you that there are far more anti-Obama bumper stickers in New Hampshire than there were ever anti-Bush bumper stickers. The "01/20/2013 -- Obama's last day!" stickers are as common as autumn leaves around here.
So answer my question: what states are going to provide the Electoral votes to re-elect Obama? And again, I'll remind you about re-apportionment shifting the Electoral balance.

o The Left isn't behind him anymore, certainly not with the willingness to do the grunt work of the campaign that we all did in 2008 (and 2006 and 2004 and...)
o The Corporations aren't behind him anymore; this cycle, they'll be spending big time to elect the Republicans just like they did in 2010. There's no percentage in electing Democrats when Republicans deliver better.
o The Electoral map will have shifted in favor of the Republicans by at least a few more votes.
o The Unions won't be nearly as enthusiastic this time.
o The Gays won't be nearly as enthusiastic this time, although finally delivering on DADT was a help. Now there's just DOMA, ENDA, and several other items...
o The Media isn't enthralled by him any more. We've already elected our first Black President do there's no story there any more.
o And finally, and most important of all, it's obvious to all that Obama screws his supporters, the folks who worked hard to elect him in 2008. What on Earth makes you think people will trust him again?

|
In reality, the base are the ones who knows what's really at stake and don't give up. You keep mentioning the electoral map like President Obama won the last election by a couple of votes. It won't make a difference. You presume to speak for A LOT of groups you're not a part of. Don't. It's insulting. Last I checked, the Media was trying to tie Obama to Wright/Ayers. Is that your version of enthralled? Really? And to your last point, no, it's just you and a few others. The majority has his back.

..."the grunt work" in the last several election cycles here in NH. Here's a clue: It *AIN'T* the DLC-lovers in our state party. They tend to sit on their asses and let us do the work "stay above the fray" in the run-up to election day.

28. Too many assumptions there |
|
You're making this assumption without knowing who the GOP nominee is. You're assuming the turnaround of the past two years won't happen in the next two years with Pukes in a more active role. You're also making the mistake of blaming every bad thing that happened on Obama, which just isn't dealing with reality at all. Basically, your stance is every and any GOP nominee is a lock in NH. Is that correct?

37. Every GOP nominee *IS* a lock in NH. |
|
The candidates they ran in 2008 in were Bozos and retreads, but they all got elected. They *ALL* got elected.
And if the economy turns around, do you really think Democrats will get (or even take?) any of the credit? The media will ensure that all the credit goes to the Republicans.
The Democrats blew it and the 2010 election sealed their fate: checkmate (speaking in terms of political chess); get used to it.
