Josh Marshall: Sarah

Today has been set aside to honor the victims of the Tucson massacre. And Sarah Palin has apparently decided she's one of them.

David Kurtz: About 'Blood Libel'

You know it's a bad sign when Jonah Goldberg thinks your rhetorical flourish has crossed the line.

Bad timing in bad taste.

1. I knew she wouldn't be smart enough to just keep her mouth shut for a while.
She cannot refrain from inserting herself into every damn thing.

2. I wonder if the
media and her advocates think she's getting too much attention now?

They obviously didn't before.

3. I was going to post the results of my search for "Blood Libel + Palin" news results...
but she's being panned so widely in the international media, I didn't see the point.

In Wake of Tucson Tragedy, What's Sarah Palin's Next Move?

<...>

Recent signs show that Palin may not yet be ready to give up a life in politics: A TLC representative recently confirmed that the TLC series "Sarah Palin's Alaska" will not return to the air next year, despite consistently strong ratings - a possible indicator that Palin is clearing her schedule to prepare for a presidential bid.

6. Oh they want her to run alright, but for ratings. Let's face it, she is
entertainment on the lowest level one could imagine. She will inspire controversy and that's just what the media wants. They disgust me as much as she does.

8. Agree that the show is about ratings, but it was made possible by media hype. This
is not about ratings, this is the hype: the WSJ attempting to assign brilliance to Palin.

Palin was likely Murdoch's pet project for 2012.

10. Palin couldn't wait until after the memorial service tonight
held in a church, to stir up the pot with her "I'm the victim" speech. If the media doesn't jump on her for this, there is no hope.
