BLACK GOP Resigns---Scared of Tea Party!!
I thought they weren't scary people?

Black GOP Official Resigns, Citing Arizona Tea Party Threats

WASHINGTON -- The sole black Republican Party district chairman in Arizona resigned from his post in the wake of Saturday's shooting, citing threats from the Tea Party faction and concerns for his family's safety, The Arizona Republic reports.

Republican District 20 Chairman Anthony Miller was not the only party official to resign following the shooting that killed six and wounded 14 others, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and a federal judge. But Miller had been an especially dedicated campaigner for the GOP, and said he only stepped down in the face of "constant verbal attacks" and other forms of intimidation, according to the Republic:

Miller, a 43-year-old Ahwatukee Foothills resident and former campaign worker for U.S. Sen. John McCain, was re-elected to a second one-year term last month. He said constant verbal attacks after that election and Internet blog posts by some local members with Tea Party ties made him worry about his family's safety.

...

The first and only African-American to hold the party's precinct chairmanship, Miller said he has been called "McCain's boy," and during the campaign saw a critic form his hand in the shape of a gun and point it at him.

"I wasn't going to resign but decided to quit after what happened Saturday," Miller said. "I love the Republican Party but I don't want to take a bullet for anyone."

Newly-elected district Secretary Sophia Johnson, First Vice Chairman Roger Dickinson, and former district spokesman Jeff Kolb are also stepping down, according to the Republic, although Dickinson contested the claim that they are all going willingly.

Are we allowed to blame Sarah Palin for this then? I mean come on. I thought the Tea Party wasn't made up of racist and violent people. Obviously the Sheriff was right...Arizona is the mecca---but if it's the mecca---I get the feeling the hellmouth flew in from Alaska.

There are crazies out there. They are taking violent rhetoric too far. And people are afraid. We have people holding public office afraid for their lives---either because of their political ideology or their skin color. These people are seemingly born of hatred and I fear them. I really bloody do.

I think there are people in the GOP who are getting a clue---even if they're only some of the Black people.

I have said one thing. And this is something I've always felt since the moment Obama declared his run for President. I am given a crash course into the civil rights movement. People always ask me in France, but there can't be racism in America, you have a Black President. I'm like you poor souls haven't a damned clue.

Racism may not be as wide spread---but it's just as vocal and more so and it seems to be getting just as violent. They disguise, they may not call it sexism, agism, racism, anti-semitism, bigotry and so on and so forth----but it's all the same name under different cloting. Currently the new name is Tea Party (they don' thave to wear the hoods any more) and they embraced a few puppets of other colors to keep off the heat. But it's there, it's under the surface and it's fierce. And they have a self-appointed leader who they even call President on her facebook page. These people even say they recognize only her as their President.

There needs to be more focus on this vitriol. Because it's frightening.

2. Unfortunately, Mr. Miller could very well have sealed his fate by saying this:
"I wasn't going to resign but decided to quit after what happened Saturday," Miller said. "I love the Republican Party but I don't want to take a bullet for anyone."

That will be seen as a completely unacceptable betrayal by the teahadists.

3. Or they'll paint him as the Black man working for Obama.
Sadly, and I hope to God noting happens to him or his family. I feel very saddened that I have to hope that someone isn't targeted.
