Rep. Capuano Tells Fellow Dems: 'You're Screwed'
Capuano took to the microphone, looked out at his colleagues and condensed what he'd learned into two words. "You're screwed," he told his friends in the House, according to one attendee. The room's silence was broken only by soft, nervous laughter.

1. there will be a bloodbath in the 2010 elections
All the polling my university has been doing indicates the Republicans will gain control of both the House and Senate as Democrats sit out the election. Way to go, Obama and Rahm.

3. Sitting it out?
I just had a Democratic co-worker in my office flumoxed because he thinks he has to vote for a Republican for the Senate next year just to get the piece of crap HCR bill repealed!

It's going to be worse than the woirst nightmoare scenarios being floated right now.

4. You should've reminded him
just why the HCR bill is such a piece of crap, and that it all has to do with a suddenly mandatory 60 vote count in the Senate because of REPUBLICANS. Now he wants to reward them for the very bill they ensured would be stripped to this chitty bill??

Sometimes I've gotta wonder about Americans...

11. Sadly, I see HCR with mandates and no cost control
putting us in a worse position than we were in last year, economically speaking.

Sadly, I've got this bad habit I need to support.

I like to eat.

12. Yes, but on the plus side
hopefully you see that the bill isn't done yet, so anything can still happen.

Funny but, I've got the same habit as you! Although I take a more positive look at this HCR battle in Congress, I like to eat too.:toast:

6. Wow.....
This is political suicide on a level we've never before seen. 1994 was more understandable. The GOP still had some legitimacy in the eyes of the public back then. That people would vote for this version of the GOP (who have proven themselves completely worthless and incompetent) just goes to show how quickly hope has turned into hopelessness.

7. Never underestimate the powers of the Powers That Be, and the
stupidity of the American people.

No wonder our country's so screwed up.

9. Tell it Mike!
I voted for you in the recent primary and I'll vote for you again without hesitation!

As for this comment from Steny:

"Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), in an interview with two reporters in his office late last week, argued that Democrats were better prepared to withstand a Republican wave than they were in 1994, because they see this one coming.'

All I got to say is that many years ago while relaxing on a beach in Acapulco I saw a large wave approaching, but still decided not to move from my spot because I was just to comfortable. Suffice it to say I left the beach soaking wet without ever having put a toe in the water and I lost some valuable possessions to boot. Just saying. B-)

10. And here's why he said that:
Everywhere Capuano went in his state, he said, he was bombarded with demands that the government do more to create jobs. He was also greeted by deep skepticism about Obama's escalation of the eight-year-old war in Afghanistan.

Capuano said he told the caucus that opponents of the war need to be given a chance to vote against funding for it on the House floor.

"If we do anything , we need to have a separate vote on it. People who can vote for it, can vote for it. But those of us who want to vote against it, be given that opportunity, too," he said. "But I focused mostly on jobs. People are tired of the promises of jobs. They need them now."
