1. Am I the only one getting a little weary of KO's Special Comments?

32. I love KOs comments
He nails everything right on the head. The only problem I have is he SEEMS very condescending at times. I understand why though. The bull shit that is spewed from the RW echo chamber does that. Dealing with stupidity isn't easy. It is utterly disgusting to think that your fellow countrymen can say and believe the things they do~

6. Because, although I usually agree with him, I think they're too long, sanctimonious
and I don't like being lectured to, even by people with whom I agree. And since I doubt that many people who DON'T agree with him listen to these comments, I don't think they have much impact.

An occasional Special Comment is interesting - but coming once or twice a week, they're hardly special anymore. They're just long-winded opinion screeds by someone preaching to his choir.

I stopped listening to them - when I see it coming up, I change the channel.

8. I completely agree with you
Plus, they're badly written (sometimes to the point of laughability). I stopped watching them several years ago: I just don't like the antiquated, "You, sir" tone or the sanctimoniousness and finger-wagging, even if I agree with the basic point being made. I think he truly believes he's Edward R. Murrow. But this is 2011, and Edward R. Murrow style doesn't hack it in the 21st century.

23. I don't need anyone in the media to tell me how to think.
I can and will form my own opinions, and don't really feel what KO does sometimes is actually in any way helpful, other than keeping his ratings up...which, in the end, is the only reason he is on the air.

15. He's the closest thing we have to Edward R Murrow
In this era of corporate news.. Guess, some of us just don't like crusaders with causes and a bit of intensity.

18. No he's not
Edward R. Murrow was not a crusader. He was a journalist who occasionally - very occasionally, not once or twice a week - offered commentary on stories he covered.

You guys are the only people getting tired of them.

You can now all pat each other on the back for being part of The Backlash.

You're welcome.

10. I doubt we're the only people who are tired of them - and since when does not caring for
the manner in which a commentator presents his views constitute "The Backlash?"

Interesting.

Works like a charm every single time!

It's not just DU, I'm now getting professional correspondence that looks like it was written by somebody with the attention span of a rabid gerbil.

"rabid gerbil"

:spray:

That was too funny...I had convinced myself that I wasn't going to laugh, but that "rabid gerbil" comment caught me off guard. How dare you make me laugh. I was just getting used to DU being the place for angst and consternation.

Sometimes, Keith is spot on...sometimes not so much. But, he's always sanctimonious (sp). When I agree, I listen. When it sounds like he's wandering through the forest a bit...I change channels and let him go alone.

Was it this?:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW3a704cZlc

Did Keith hurt your feelings by not being a good Obamabot and confronting you with the cold, hard, truth?
Are you offended that he isn't mindlessly towing the party line like a good Democrat? Grow up!

29. No, I dont think what he says has anything to do with the objections...
as I said, I like him and I also am a pretty staunch supporter of the President.

I think how he says what he says and for how long he says it, has a lot to do with the criticism.

30. No, it wasn't whatever you pulled up on YouTube
First, I don't think anyone is "bashing" Olbermann. All I've seen in this thread are that several people don't like his Special Comments. Is there something sacrosanct about those comments that make it sacrilege for anyone to not be enamored of them?

It's interesting that you attack those of us who happen not to care for this particular segment of Olbermann's show by accusing us of being overly sensitive because he supposedly isn't "towing the party line like a good Democrat" - without seeming to recognize that it is you, not we, who are evidencing a rather extreme degree of sensitivity and defensiveness.

As for your demand that we "grow up," fyi, grown ups often disagree with people, even with those whom they otherwise tend to agree with.
