"I'm the true victim here." Two more examples how GOP copies Nazi propaganda-tools: |

Rep. Steve Cohen dared to say, that the GOP uses one of Goebbels's propaganda-tools: "If you lie, lie big and lie all the time." But that's not the only one:
I'm the true victim here.
The 1920's in Germany. A country in political rebellion. The good old days gone forever. The government in a colossal debt: reparations gotta be paid. The debt is so huge, that the government has to start printing money, causing inflation, ruining its citizens financially, clogging the economy as nobody can afford to buy something.
This is on what the Nazi-movement started: "I'm the victim and I deserve revenge." The politicians who negotiated the peace-treaty caused all this. I'm the victim. We could have won in the battlefield, but our troops got backstabbed by those peace-loving socialists. I'm the victim. The reparations burdened on us are way overblown and a cruel and unfair punishment. I'm the victim.
Then Hitler promises grandiose. He promises pride. He promises brotherhood. He promises revenge. He promises a righteous struggle against the forces of evil. He delivers a perpetrator for the crime that he says happened to you: Communists and Minorities.
Sound familiar?
Some amorphous, distant organization is to blame for all my problems.
Why do I not make enough money to come around? Why is my life so hard? What's the cause?
Here's the answer: An evil, distant force is causing all this on purpose. They oppress you and they are not like you. It's the "Weltjudentum" (roughly translated: world-judaism). THEY secretly wield influence everywhere. It's a world-wide conspiracy to take away your money and your freedom. They want to push their agenda (-> greed) and they don't care about the consequences for the average guy.
If you replace the Jews with a government conspiring against its citizens to take away their guns/fishing-rods/gas-guzzlers/light-bulbs/freedom of speech/freedom to discriminate and to enforce seat-belts/socialized health-care/environmental protection/consumer safety on them or with better-paid-than-you government workers who oppress the rich people and just hate your guts or with the UN leading to a world-government or with left organizations working towards a communist revolution or with organizations working for equality for homosexuals, destroying marriage and molesting children or with immigrants taking away jobs you might have wanted if they had been paid better or with organizations demanding equality for all races, secretly hating the ruling white culture or with environmental organizations that put science and some distant places and people above your very own economic interests or with atheists, who draw god's anger directly to this country or with feminazis, who won't give up until all men are powerless or ...

3. "backstabbed"...There was an article about this Nazi propaganda tool |
|
I think it was in Harper's magazine, a year or so ago. Title was, "Stabbed in the Back" IIRC.
I refuse to be cowed into not making reference to Nazis. If we really believe "Never Again" we need to be aware of events leading up such a state of affairs.

To make drawing a parallel between X and the Nazis legitimate, you have to show 1) that something is true both of X and of the Nazis, and 2) that that thing is not true of many other people.
Like the vast majority of people comparing their opponents to the Nazis, you manage 1) but don't even attempt 2), and as such your comparison is not legitimate, informative or meaningful, it's just cheap and mildly offensive propaganda.
The Nazis and the Republicans both use posters and television for political campaigning. Hell, they both mostly have two legs. That does not make comparing one to the other legitimate or sensible.
