My Thoughts after Listening to Pundits on CNN/MSNBC
It's a very simple thought actually. America, and that includes you DUers and other political forum hounds (said as an endearment). Don't listen to the pundits.

Don't listen to a word they have to say. This is for both the LEFT and the RIGHT. We were all born with minds of our own. Take the President's speech---read it a few times, underline key things, and make up your own thoughts. Compare and contrast with this other speeches and with his successes and failures which you can find here: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/ (which you should still do research on).

And then come up with your ideas. These guys don't know anything. Or what they're saying doesn't seem to be resonating from what I heard in the speech and the gall to even contract what Obama has said with the likes of clowns is even sadder (this goes to CNN).

In the end---dump the pundits and all of these columnists or bloggers or tweeters. Just give it a break. We're not winning but losing the more we listen.

2. Yes. Even on NBC.
Brian Williams wasn't THAT bad, but the others were disappointed that there wasn't anything spicy and controversial to talk about. No "You Lie!" etc. Boo hoo for them.
I thought Obama hit the right tone and said what needed to be said. Too bad if it isn't cable-news-ready. What is boring to the pundits is just fine for the average American.

7. Well...if he wasn't Trashing Progressives (The Professional Left) or Acting Out
in some other way...maybe it was a good speech that said "nothing to offend anyone."

I'm sorry I missed it...but Family Problem with Emergency over sick relative kept me away from the Speeech and Cable View after It.

Nothing much here on DU about it ...except some polls and locked threads. Hard to know...I'll have to check out some other sites early tomorrow morning because I'm too tired to look for more...and frankly don't care..given I have other concerns, tonight.

9. They lock those official DU speech threads when they get a certain size, or maybe
after a specified amount of time, not because a bunch of mean stuff was necessarily going on in them.

3. Remember the definition of pundit
Which best describes them?

1) an expert
2) a learned person

or
3) a person who gives opinions in an authoritative manner usually through the mass media

and #3 doesn't require 1 or 2 to be true.

5. The brain really is similar to a muscle in re: Use it or lose it. Every time you don't do your own
thinking, you lose an opportunity to become more yourself.

6. I missed the Speech and Pundits (sick relative call ...emergency) But,
when I came here to DU to read about what he said..there was a "sort of silence." Some posters threads were locked and the rest was confrontational without giving any quotes to what he said or didn't say that could have upset folks.

My Conclusion...The Speech must have been a DOA or Something! :eyes:
