"For those of you keeping score at home..."
For those of you keeping score at home, the Dow closed at 7,949 on Bush's last day in office. That means it's gone up 50% since President Obama's inauguration.

Clearly, that's socialism run amok...liberal thugism on the loose. Oh, for capitalism's good old days when Bush and the GOP steered it straight to the edge of oblivion.

TARP is turning a profit; banks are stable and profiting; American automakers are in the black and paying back... but Obama's financial policies... have failed?

2. Then why is the budget deficit so bad?
Edited on Wed Jan-26-11 01:48 PM by Dawgs
The answer is lack of revenue from lost jobs.

The economy STILL sucks.

6. Are you considering all the crap Bush took off the budget that Obama put back?
Edited on Wed Jan-26-11 01:51 PM by JuniperLea
The war spending, for example, was never hitting the budget in the BushCo era. Those wars were supposed to pay for themselves; remember that lie? That was BushCo's justification for NOT putting them on the regular budget. One of the first things Obama did was to put that back on the budget. That's the "trillion dollar explosion" of the deficit that Bachmann and other dumbasses refer to. That is a lie. We've always had that deficit too. It's just back on the budget for all to see, including those who are memory challenged.

11. Actually no. I'm talking about the yearly budget deficit for 2011; not the national debt.
Edited on Wed Jan-26-11 02:19 PM by Dawgs
They are two different things.

The budget deficit for 2011 is high because of two things; 1) Obama's tax cut deal for the rich with the Republicans, and 2) the high unemployment rate.

"memory challenged"? How bout "fact challenged"?

20. You're right. I was wrong to add that last line.
At the same time, people don't like being called liars when there facts are accurate.

I know it says the "NY Times" - but I'd appreciate bookmarking the actual site as a source.

TIA

that he's implemented more tax cuts/incentives to small businesses than any president in history and yet he's seen as, anti-business.

8. Did you listen to the speech last night?
That looks like his focus to me. The beefing up of infrastructure alone will create a lot of jobs. The other side to that is getting past Republican obstructionism! Any business man worth his/her salt will never hire people based solely on how much money they have in the coffers... only demand for goods and services will create jobs. You don't get that kind of demand from the top 2%... there just aren't enough of them to create demand, no matter how much money they have... and they have 98% of it!

Obama refuses to speak out against the obstruction... he can't do that while trying to get them to cooperate. I understand that. It frustrates the hell out of me, but I don't have a degree from Harvard and I'm not near the person Obama is... I don't choke back my anger nearly that well.

10. And my 401(k) and other investments reflects that! All the poor saps
who pulled their money out of the market took a big loss. If they had bothered to research the history of the market, they would have seen that crashes or big drops always come back bigger than before. You only lose money when you sell at a loss.
