Polling suggests that DU has a strong view of the Senate HCR Bill
Edited on Tue Dec-15-09 06:10 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
I like the polling feature. I am often genuinely curious what DU thinks about something.

Sometimes DU polls I post surprise me, but I have never been quite this surprised.

A poll is no good if it doesn't get wide participation. Since there is probably a different mix of support for the Senate bill in GDP than in GD partcipation from both forums (fora?) would be more accurate:

1. The bill is pretty lame, but I have a hard time imagining...

going back to square one after all of this.

Would there be any energy left to start back up?

2. Who cares? The bill, as it stands, is not worth passing.

If the bill dies now, Congress will not revisit the issue for years, probably a generation - it took 15 years since the last health care reform clusterfuck in '94.

I say we take what's left - the pre-existing conditions ban & rescissions ban, the subsidies, the Medicaid expansion, then we work to cause extreme pain to all the conservadems and Rethugs obstructing reform.

4. I think your math is a little fuzzy.
It's only been 15 years since '94.

But your intent is accurate, I think.

6. Actually, economics will force Congress' hand long before then
fact is that the present system (and the band aids in the Senate bill) are not sustainable over even a modest period of time.

7. We support the bill because we support universal health care
Obvious, isn't it???
