Paul's job is to represent the idiots of Kentucky who voted for him. DeMint shouldn't even be a consideration.
I don't think Randy Paul has a clue about what his job is supposed to be.

2. With that statement, he |

pretty much admits that DeMint is a kook, just not as kooky as Rand Paul.

We apologize for inflicting Rand Paul on the rest of the country. And by the way, of course, I voted for Jack Conway for that Senate seat. And I'm also sorry that Conway ran such a crappy campaign.

7. May I echo Bake's Word.... |

The Democrats of Kentucky, and there are many of us, are heartsick about this total screwball being elected. What an embarrassment. I mean to say McConnell is the better of our two senators...crap.
By the way, Jack Conway is a good guy. However, he was green and his campaign staff was not impressive. He's been an excellent Attorney General and I hope he runs again for state or national office.

8. He's just recently announced he's running for re-election as AG |
|
He really let Paul walk all over him in the debates. With a little experience he'll get better, I hope.

That is, if you accept ours for inflicting Jim DeMented on the rest of the country. I voted for the Green Party Candidate this year. Didn't vote for that nutjob in 2004, either. As for Alvin Greene, blame that on the black box voting machines, and those who hacked them.

10. His name is "Randy". He chose "Rand" to identify his philosophy with Ayn Rand. |

There's not much about Randy Paul that's not fake.

"Rand" is his wife's nickname for him. He has said it had nothing to do with Ayn Rand.

21. Actually Randy is an even worse name |
|
for a little boy. His full name is Randal Howard Paul and Randal was shortened to Rand by his mom. He has said on many occasions that he wasn't named after Ayn Rand. Anyway lets hope that he hits the liberal end of the spectrum in his quest to out wing nut Demint. God knows I would love to see another outspoken Anti drug war, anti war, anti bank bailout, civil liberty politician. Maybe another extremist like Bernie could show him the ropes :)

12. He might be able to out-crazy DeMint, but he won't be making him look |
|
like a moderate. And, he's gonna have to get in line for the crazy train behind Palin and Bachmann.

they always trot out their polemics and firebrands not so that people will believe them now, but because it creates room for someone only slightly less ridiculous to appear reasonable, moderate, or centrist. this is a key aspect of their strategy to keep pulling the "center" to the right.
meanwhile, democrats tend to tell their polemics and firebrands to hush and be pragmatic. the pragmatists' job is made easier if they DON'T tell our polemics and firebrands to shut up, but instead to say, hey, i don't agree with everything they say, but they clearly represent a portion of the country.
you'll notice that republicans don't apologize for their extremists' statements.

This, in part, accounts for why we end up with undesirables like Geithner and Summers in a Democratic administration.

It did not seem to matter what he said in the campaign, he was destined for the senate. Amazing.
