This is not the end. I for one have not lost heart.

I don't blame Holy Joe only. There is plenty of blame to be spread about.. But folks it is not time to throw the bums out however disheartening it may be.

It is simply time for the President to Double Down on Health Care and actually lead. Do the Bipartisan blue-ribbon thing Firmly articulate a public plan that works and promise to send it to the Hill in a year.

Not time for retreat. It is time to nationalize the effort. Dammit we need to make the mid terms about the need for a public option.

1. I agree about the President needing to actually lead.
But, given the history we now have, what on earth makes you think he actually WILL?

:argh:

16. His leadership style seems to be to politely ask. If you say no, he says, "Okay".

6. eff rhe whiners!
We pick up the Ohio seat We pick up the Arizona Seat. Pick up Missouri pick up New Hampshire and we have a Senate lock.

Figure out a public plan that appeals to the muddle middle, and get it passed.

But The President has to lead the fight and He has to Double Down,

18. What makes you think you're going to pick up any more seats
given what the public has seen and is seeing from Washington? There has literally been a lot that people around here at least would consider offensive. I know for a fact that both Bush's bail out and Obama's bail out made people really angry. The economic situation is worse than when Obama took office, not entirely his fault, but people are starting to get mad enough not to hear that any more. They weren't interested in the middle when they voted Obama in. They haven't gotten what they needed and there's a lot of pain going around right now. I thought the democrat had a real chance several months ago but I don't know that I believe that any more.

7. It is a fail with a corporate mandate that places us even more at the mercy of insurers
It is worse than what we started with.

If they really couldn't have offered a government alternative, then they should at least keep their damn hands out of people's pockets with corporate mandates.

12. No we didn't
We have 55 Democrats and 5 Bluedogs.

Lieberman
Nelson
Landrieu
Lincoln

Were always iffy

and given the vagaries of the issue, Reid was constantly having to play whack-a-mole withe one or two other crankpots

14. We have 58 that call themselves Democrats and 2 that don't
The "2" couldn't be more polar opposites. Then we have the moderate conservatives from solidly red states(in Presidential elections).

We have 4 Senate seats with appointed replacements. (CO, NY, IL, and DE)

We have a very ineffective leader in Senator Reid.

This is the whole problem with being a Democrat. If you are trying to scare Democrats into voting for oil/natural gas/timber/etc, then you won't need much effort in LA/AR. If you are trying to scare Republicans and align them as a block, then just say the magic words: gays and abortions.

Not exactly tit for tat, but it is very obvious that different fears exist within the two parties.
