Pass the bill and call it what it is: a defeat for progressives |
|
No need for blame. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose.
If we do want to look to blame someone, forget Obama, Reid, et al, they were on the winnning side, they have nothing to apologize for.
We should look to Lynn Woolsey and Raul Grijalva and Dennis Kucinich and Bernie Sanders, (and maybe Pelosi, I'm not sure) and say, is this the best we could have done? Would a different strategy have yielded better results?
Because this isn't the last fight. EFCA is next, I hope...

2. The problem is that it is an idealogical defeat for progressives |
|
but it will be a real world electoral slaughter for the more moderate congresspersons in closer districts. Which makes it a loss for the democratic party. And in the end, a loss for the nation, and the world. What will the next Republican president do with his power?

3. How about we NOT pass the bill? |
|
That is still an option, I think.
I say we take it.
