Clearly the White House is acting of pure political expediency, anything to get that Christmas card with a photo of Obama signing a 2,000 page bill with "Health Care Reform" emblazoned on the cover page. The public be damned!

5. Sure. God forbid we get people actual access to health care sooner or provide them with subsidies

and expansions. They can wait until we get this all figured out. Kill the bill and start over. Those pre-existing conditions don't cause any problems. They can wait.

If it is done through Reconcilliation with just budget issues then we don't need Lieberman. We need him for the other crap - insurance reforms and setting up different programs.

I think it makes perfect sense but I honestly think that Lieberman has his minions reading these blogs and if we like it, he'll kill it. He said as much re: Anthony Weiner and the medicare buy in. Once he learned AW liked it, that was it for him. If he finds out that the real strategy here is to trick him into voting for the essential elements of the insurance reform now only to be handed reconciliation sometime in the spring of 2010 with a medicare buy in and a strong public option, he'll kill the bill. Let's not give him any ideas OK? The thought had never occured to me until I read this that Joe might be the one getting rolled here and not us. Maybe I'm just grasping at straws here but if Ambinder is right, I'm not.

Fortunately, I don't think DU will be the mechanism by which Lieberman finds out (if he does).
