When HCR is signed, in the Rose Garden, DU'ers will post pictures to be fawned over.
There will be talk of President Obama's oratory skills, his dapperlicious manner, how cute the girls look (WOW, isn't BO getting big?), and OH MY GOD wasn't Michelle's dress awesome?

That day, DU'ers will put aside their differences and agree that without President Obama's exemplary leadership, none of this would have been possible.

A thread posted that day making the claim President Obama could beat ANY (the thread will be updated to claim any THREE) former President(s) in a pickup game of basketball will get 673 recs in its first week.

Some DU'ers will die before HCR's total implementation in 2014, though ALL DU'ers will start paying for it in 2010.

I don't understand the wailing, the gnashing of teeth, the hand wringing, or the rending of garments that has taken place in the last two days. President Obama will sit in the Rose Garden, and sign a bill somewhat related to HCR. Of that, DU can rest assured. DU'ers, some of them at least, will be happy.

Soon thereafter, DOMA and DADT will repeal themselves KNOWING that they don't stand a chance in the face of the juggernaut that is the Obama Administration, and the day after THAT happens, some DU'er will post a thread outlining the 408 things that have been accomplished by President Obama.

One doesn't need to be clairvoyant to see the future.

1. Of course
We must all bow before the inscrutable, infallible leadership of our political betters.

3. Really?
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 03:05 AM by FrenchieCat
I see his feet being held to fire, as they have been for the next 3 years.....
not so much fawning, more like a lot of nit picking about anything and everything.
Although when HCR just passed is modified via reconciliation through the budget process needing only 51 votes, then some might scratch their asses and figure out that...hey, perhaps he was playing chess all along, while we were more interested in making sure he was scratching his ass with the correct hand, and not bowing too deeply.

and don't forget the garden!

6. If that happens, I will start a thread praising the president abundantly
And, really, every leader's feet should be held to the fire. We saw in the Nineties what happened when a Democratic president's feet were only held to the fire by the RIGHT. Nothing wrong with wanting to avoid a repeat of that, is there?

24. I am praying that you are right, Frenchie! I want to believe that with all my heart.
But if so, do you think Howard Dean isn't aware of the strategy you have just described? Does he "know" but just won't let on that he does?

10. Prediction: some of the same people who defended the prez, saying he had no power in the process...
will praise him for a supposedly great outcome, praising his super powers for having secured it!

I'll leave off the little smiley.

My prediction: Bashing Obama and his supporters still the best way to get a free pizza.

12. Ok, so lemme get this straight.
Picking a fight for what you foresee? And throwing in some absolutely ridiculous nonsense (i.e. the pick up basketball game nonsense) just to get the flame-war going?

So sad to see DU turning into a sandbox for the hysterics, drama queens and members of the barbiturate left.

14. Obama will NOT sign this bill......
.... in the rose garden. He has hardly done ANYTHING in the rose garden. As a matter of fact the press deemed it necessary to post a "no Rose garden event" outrage story about mid-summer "he'd totally missed all the spring foliage."

He'll sign it in PA or OH or some swing state because he'd rather sign a bill with "the American people" as his backdrop and not his gilded cage. That's what he did with the Stimulus bill.

Malia and Sasha will NOT be there and neither will Bo. I get the impression that the girls are either fine not being celebrities or their parents guard their privacy or both. So subsequently, Michelle will not be there either. She's not usually at signing ceremonies.

While it seems like I'm being flip and nitpicking, I'm dead serious. Anyone who follows this administration closely would know all of this. So I'm afraid I have to say it calls the rest of your reasoning into question.

But you're right ..... there will be hooping and hollering and probably at least one photo thread. If and when he signs this bill it WILL be an important day. 30 million more Americans will have health insurance who didn't have it before, that and so many other POSITIVE things will be worth celebrating.

So you're welcomed to not watch ... or your welcome to put me on ignore.

We don't march in lockstep.

And why do you suppose just because you aren't happy with the HCR obtained that it has anything to do with DOMA, etc.? You've got some kind of universe revolves around me sort of thing going.

17. Not I.
I have not once ever knocked the job the President was doing, up until this thread. It's very hard to deny that President Obama needs to quit being Mr. Nice Guy and grow a pair. I have never contributed to a candidates campaign EVER until Obama came along. No I'm not disillusioned by words like "HOPE & CHANGE", I just really really didn't want 4 years of "YOU BET CHA'" god the horror of that thought.

That aside, I expect to get my money's worth in the man I helped get elected by him being assertive in his goals. My only motivation for supporting the guy is he offered something the others never did... vision. But then, that goes without saying. Ron Paul ALSO had vision and I would gladly support him as well. Doesn't matter to me if he has a D or an R after his name, we need that man (or woman) with a plan, and the drive to get it done.

I know in my state when Nelson comes up for re-election, I will be voting for the Republican. Not because I would side with the Republican party, but because I know what I'd be getting. If I wanted a Republican in the Senate I wouldn't have voted for Nelson in the first place. It now seems painfully clear to me where Sen. Nelson's convictions lie. Since he is a DINO, I'm simply not gonna vote for him, I'll vote for the real Republican by name. In this red state of mine, his defeat will be swift.

Come 2012 when Obama is up for re-election, it will be a bit different... I'll probably just stay home. Maybe he will have my mind changed before hand, I hope he does, but I will not support a President who doesn't grow a pair.
