Okay....President Obama said something to Governors today. Very Good
Edited on Mon Feb-28-11 10:35 PM by Armstead
Since I've been complaining about President Obama's silence on the union issue, in fairness I should also give credit where credit is due.

In my opinion, President Obama did the right thing and took the right tone when speaking to the Governors, regarding respecting public workers and their rights. He took the right tone, and although he didn't get specific he made it clear what is really involved in this.

Could he have been stronger? Sure. But in his own style, he was forceful and made clear where he stands.

Do I hope he won't just leave it at that? Absolutely. This issue is not going away no matter what happens in Wisconsin. It is one step in a long march.

But he did good on this one.

2. Yes I really liked that statement. Telling the GOP to get real already
and show some respect for public service. We want the best and the brightest. We're tired of third-rate infrastructure.

It was great to hear. I hope he will build on it too.

3. The union crap is a smokescreen and we know he can't do that...
But what Scott Walker is doing is setting his ducks in a row to raid the fully funded WRS pension system and replace it with 401(k). There's somewhere close to 172 billion dollars there.

5. Sounds like there are a lot of monsters hiding in Walker's box
There are actually two levels to this. Walker's own plans to slice and dice Wisconsin and serve it to his masters.

The other is the union stuff -- which is not crap -- as part of the GOP/Right/Corporatist plan to strip the remaining rights of workers and vitality of unions.

4. I was glad to see his support, too!
And about damn time. Would I have liked something stronger? Sure, hell yes. But I'll take this and be grateful.
