Gingrich to announce Presidential run on Thursday.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0311/50430.html

He's actually going to do it... he's got the radioactive anti-appeal of Palin. He's bright though... I'd love to see him at all the debates :D with Mitt, Newt, Michelle, Sarah and Huckles. lmao...

If he was actually nominated... how many states did Goldwater win?

5. I can't say I'm one of the finger waggers
regarding his marriages/affairs/issues... after all two or three of the best POTUS of the last 50 years couldn't keep it in their pants!

I'll choose to take issue with his neo-con warmonger philosophies and his selective reading of history and the constitution.

12. I detest Republican "family values" hypocrisy and I enjoy pointing his out.
Edited on Tue Mar-01-11 08:43 PM by ClarkUSA
I guarantee you that mentioning it will hurt his standing among the GOP base more than anything you're concerned about. Also, the POTUS of the recent past who "couldn't keep it in their pants" weren't anywhere close to "the best" in my reckoning.

19. "Big Dog gets ALL the credit" for the tech boom? I think not.
Edited on Tue Mar-01-11 10:21 PM by ClarkUSA
You can thank Bill Gates, Steve Jobs Nortel, JDSU, Lucent, Agere, Sun, Digital Equipment, Intel, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, etc. for that era. No credible economist of that era would attribute "ALL the credit" to Bubba, believe me. The man doesn't even know how to send emails.

Big Dog does get ALL the credit for inventing extraordinary rendition aka. torture, which became one of BushCo's favorite interrogation methods.

Big Dog does, however, get ALL the credit for deregulating Wall Street via repealing Glass-Steagall, thereby setting the stage for the second Great Depression.

Not to mention Big Dog gets ALL the credit for deregulating media ownership rules, thereby allowing Rupert Murdoch to hold Faux sway over US politics.

Big Dog also certainly gets ALL the credit for creating such disgust among the voting public that Al Gore, who should have been a shoo-in for re-election given the economy, struggled and Nader became ascendant. The rest is history.

Besides leaving a surplus, Big Dog didn't leave anything close to a big bore liberal policy legacy. In fact, true to Dick Morris' guidance, he focused on the small stuff, like school uniforms (after Hillary blew up HCR). But then again, he always was DLC to the end (see the repeal of Glass-Steagall, NAFTA, deregulating the media, etc.)

39. Yawn.
Sorry, I'm not into fantasy football, either. I am enjoying the reality of living history under our first African-American president. And to tell you the truth, I the memory of Bubba's sordid zipper trail of deceit leading to a stained blue dress doesn't want me to revisit the late 90's at all. I am glad not have had kids at the time.

34. Regarding repeal of Glass-Steagall
The Democrats voted against it repeal until there was a compromise to stop banks from Red-Lining Black dominated areas. When the bill came to his desk it was veto proof. It was in hindsight a disastrous compromise. It is too bad that the latest attempt at financial reform doesn't address some major issues. Again, the result of compromise. The problem is that the nation is being compromised into the poor house.

6. Goldwater was saintly, sane, and brilliant in comparison
actually, a lot of things that Goldwater predicted did come to pass.

He once wrote, worryingly, about the impact of cults and sects on politics. He always considered China a sleeping giant, that once aroused, could be a true danger to the world, unless capitalism took hold there. He worried about supporting right wing terror groups in central and south america, and felt we should be hands off.

The more I read about him, the better he looked, in comparison to today's maniacs. Hell, NIXON looks like a liberal in comparison to today's GOP.

I was all of 19 and sat around talking about him in college. My friends and I all knew he was a hypocritical loser that stuck his foot in his mouth on everything. A whiny little baby. This is what the Repubs have to offer up against Obama?
