Tea Party leader: Boehner looks 'like a fool,' should be defeated in a primary
Tea Party leader: Boehner looks 'like a fool,' should be defeated in a primary
By: CNN Political Producer Shannon Travis

Washington (CNN) – In another display of the Tea Party movement turning on its own ideological supporters, the head of one prominent group has said that House Speaker John Boehner looks “like a fool” as House Republicans push spending cuts in their budget proposal. And that leader wants the Tea Party movement to set a goal for 2012: to defeat Boehner in a Republican primary.

To help make his point, Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips even referenced a story currently feeding a pop-culture frenzy.

“Charlie Sheen is now making more sense than John Boehner,” Phillips wrote in a post to his group’s website (link to: teapartynation.com) on Wednesday.

CNN contacted Boehner’s campaign for reaction, but a spokesman declined to comment.

At issue is the spending proposal recently passed in the House that would fund the government for the rest of fiscal year 2011 - which ends September 30. It would cut $61 billion from current spending levels.

Noting an earlier pledge from Republicans, Phillips said the $61 billion is not enough.

9. Former Speaker Pelosi knew how to work the Democratic caucus
Conversely, Boehner comes off as a hapless school marm with stuck with a bunch of unruly kindergarteners who refuse to go along with his lesson plan. Hee=Hee!

3. Seriously, I've been waiting to see how
all of this was going to play out. republicans don't want centrist voters to see them as too crazy but their caution has started to piss off those who like to tea bag.

I'm watching the whole thing with interest, I can tell you.

Q3Jr4.

21. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day
Good. Let's see some more infighting amongst the GOP. Maybe the extreme right and the ones who want to get the extreme right votes will eliminate each other and we can get back the type of Republicans I remember from my youth: you might not agree with all their positions but they were civil and were able to compromise for the good of the country.

22. I take it Boehner is no longer useful to the GOTP...
He, too, was expendable. They send out the clowns to do the dirty work, and when it doesn't fly, they knock them back down again like the puppets they are. This is grand theatre.

23. No. No.No. No primary.
Not good for the party. We can't give its members a choice. Nope. Live and die with Boehner.
